I'm pleased to share some more news.

One of my European 2005 photographs has been selected for a Merit Award in the B&W Magazine (http://www.bandwmag.com/) Single Image Contest 2008.

The photograph will appear in a B&W Special Issue featuring award winners, which is scheduled to arrive on newsstands during the last week of November.

Altogether, 830 entries and 5493 images were received. The notification e-mail I received from the magazine stated that I "should feel truly honored to have reached the top of such a tall pyramid." I do.

This photograph will be familiar to many of you and can be viewed by clicking here (http://www.david-keenan.com/displayimage.php?album=33&pos=30).

I also recently received news that another of my photographs was of one of 77 selected for a permanent exhibition in public spaces at the Shepherd Center (http://www.shepherd.org/), a catastrophic care hospital, in Atlanta.

To view the image selected for permanent display at the Shepherd Center, please click here (http://www.david-keenan.com/displayimage.php?album=20&pos=0).

Thanks again to all for your continued support and encouragement.

B&W magazine awards, the ones where you pay to submit and then you receive an automatic voucher to participate in Focus magazine? I wouldn't take those awards too seriously.

Anyhow, if it floats your boat, cool for you!

NB23, you're a fantastic photographer, always enjoyed looking at your work....after this post though...not as much, not that you'll care a whit.

Anyhow, if throwing a left handed insult floats your boat...cool for you!

Not sure of NB23's motivation with his "left handed insult" but it seems he is not well informed.

It is true that submissions published in Focus amount to paid advertising. Still Focus is a high-quality publication and they are not going to publish crap regardless of how much someone pays. Yes, I paid to have that spread to promote myself -- but I believe I was invited to do so based on the quality of the submission of ~30 prints I sent in.

This has absolutely nothing to do with my (or anyone else's) work being published in B&W which by no means is paid advertising. These are completely distinct publications.

Yes, there is a submission fee to be considered for publication in B&W but there are almost ALWAYS submission fees when submitting to a magazine or competition.

I am honored to have been selected in the B&W annual single image contest. And regardless of the (completely unrelated) circumstances I am proud to have had my spread in Focus.
