Has/Is anyone using one of the aftermarket 1.25x magnifiers on their M?
Are they any good? I want to try one, but $300 for the Leica version is kind of steep. I see some on E-bay all the time (from Hong Kong) for under 50. What are they like?

I keep one attached to my M8 all the time. I love it.
I've never used the Leica version, but this one does everything I need it to.

Yes the one from Hong Kong Supplies is a good accessory.

I have one and it works well. There's been some discussion over the last couple of months on this forum about them so you may wish to do a quick search to see other's comments about their experiences.

I have one that I have been using on my M3 DS for my 90mm Cron. Works as advertised.

I'll chime in and say that I have both the .85 and 1.25 from Hong Kong Supplies and both work well. I've had the Leica version and the biggest benefit to the Leica one is the chain that attaches to your camera. Other than that, and I think the HK one sticks out a little more, no noticable difference.

I have one, also, and it's pretty good.

A major difference, other than the actual shape, between the HK magnifier and the Leica one, is that the Leica mag. doesn't need constant cleaning. The way the HK version is designed, it is more prone to smudging. An irritation when shooting indoors in low-light conditions, but not a major flaw.

Whether this is worth the extra $190 (are the prices still the same?) to you, is a choice. If I had had the extra $190 when I got mine, I would have opted for the Leica one, it is well worth it. imv(h)o, of course.

Great! It's on the way. I'll let you all know what I think when I get it.

Thanks!
