Hi all

I have a ltm canon 1.4 and love it. Beautifull lens!

I am trying the stacked glassless filters as a hood. I experimentated a bit to discover how many filters should be used before entering the image field.

Well, the results were not convincing.

Maybe it was a mistake to experiment at full aperture but even without any filter, the lens shows a significant amount of light falloff which make discovering the exact moment (# of filters) of entrance in the field difficult to discover.

Long story short....

Does any of you use the "stacked filters hood"?

How much does it protrude from the lens without interfering?

Thanks

Michael

I use the lens with one Hoya filter and a 48->49 adapter (a bit thinner than
a filter). 2 filters is too much. The lens is very flare resistant.

When you test for vignetting, test at infinity and f5.6 or up.

Best,

Roland.

Hi Roland

Thanks!

in fact I am also using an adapter, a UV filter and then another blank filter.
So you say the last one is too much. Mhhhh interesting...

Vivtar made metal hoods in 48mm diameter in the 1980s that fit very nicely on this lens.
