I thought I remembered reading about a locking device for collapsable lenses from being collapsed into bodies which the should be be.

Is there such a device or was it just a fever dream? If there is, where might one find one and and what's it called?

A piece of wire or a thin strip of rubber wrung around the neck of the lens?

That just doesn't sound very Leica or eligant.

Besides in Texas we'd just use Duct tape. :)

If you mean using a collapsible lens with a camera such as an M5 or a CL, the advice was to put a piece of Dymo tape around the barrel. Duct tape should work as well.

There's always solder.

Yeah dymo type is what the official leica manual suggests for cameras such as the M5, etc.

Dymo type is the tape used for creating embossed labels. You've seen them used in offices, etc before.
