The GR1s does surprisingly well in low light.

Does anyone know how to push film in the Gr1s by overriding the DX coding?

Yes. There is an "ISO" setting on the aperture wheel on top of the camera (just after f/22). Switch the camera on, select ISO and change the value pushing the MODE button. The ISO will go up (to max. 5000). To lower the ISO, push the self-timer button, left of the MODE button.

The camera will remember the selected ISO value even after being switched off.

Good luck.

edit: nice pictures btw!

I think that might be the Gr1v with ISO option; my Gr1s has nothing just after f/22....

With My GR1s, I normally just offset the exposure compensation dial, but you could try using a coin to scratch off the DX coding paint to get from 400 to 640/800/1250/1600

Nice picture of the coffee cup

Oops. I indeed have a GR1V and assumed that that wouldn't make a difference. But apparently it does.. Hm. Sorry.

I like that first shot! How did you tell the camera to focus on the foreground?

I first locked in the focus on the cup (hot chocolate) and then, with the shutter release button pressed halfway down, I composed the shot.

Thanks everyone.

My GR1 doesn't have that option either, but it is a superb camera for it's size.

I took one of my favorite pics with mine...

I cheated ;) and looked in the owner's manual. I am afraid no such option is possible - at least not according to the manual. On page 33 it states that the DX range goes from 25 to 3200 - for non DX coded films it will default to ISO 100.

Great pictures!

Thanks spysmart, I'm currently shooting a roll of HP5 with the exposure compensation dial at -2 (push to 1600).

Here are some more recent pictures, I love this little camera. The only thing I would change is the noisy film advance.

Yeah they are fantastic cameras - here's my favourite with my GR1s - cropped somewhat. I've got this as a 18x12 on our wall and it 's pretty good.

There's some good info at:

Ignore the heading! It's about the film models.
