Selling off more of my cameras.

This is not a for-sale add - I will place that in the classifieds section - I just want to get some price estimates for these two camera kits.

This time up on the block are;

1) Leica III(F), black, 1933 with Elmar 50/3.5 from same time.
Comes with brown Luigi half case.
(Can sell additional accessories such as viewfinders (multiple), OKARU/ORAKU (never remember which it is), hoods (multiple) and also a number of the very rare 19mm screw-in filters).

Condition:
- Very little paint loss and scratches. Very nice.
- Functions great but it IS old so a CLA may be in order.

2) Contax IIIa, Color Dial with Sonnar 50/1.5 lens.
Comes with black Luigi half case.

Condition:
- Very nice, very few scratches, light-meter, as on most of these cameras, is not working.
- Functions great but it IS old so a CLA may be in order

(Can sell additional accessories such as filters, the original S1119 screw-in hood and a very rare 50mm viewfinder).

I'm not good at Barnack and Contax prices, Rich, sorry.

Hey did you ever see what happened to your M3 ?

:)

Roland.

PS: for everybody else: I have held the above Contax in my hands.
Never had heard a camera as quiet before ....

Oh my god, please tell me you didn't do that to 'my' Leica!

And yes, it's a pretty quiet Contax..as far as Contax goes :)

Anyone wanna take a stab at camera kit prices? Ebay is all over the map as always.

Hi Rich, here's a stab at it in round numbers:

III body, needs cla $200
Elmar $100
case $100

IIIa body, meter inop, needs cla $200
Sonnar $100
case $100

If I had the $ (but I don't) I'd like those cases!

Rich,
I agree with the numbers given by Frank.
Did you sell your M3 to Roland?

Roland,
I hope that the photo of the M3 is a fake.

Nope. Feels great. Attracts nice subjects at parties and such :)

Did you sell your M3 to Roland?

Yes he did. You should update your who bought what from whom at RFF records :)

Hello Roland,
I don't pay much attention to who buys which camera/lens from which RFF member. My "who bought what from whom at RFF records" are just lousy!
As for improving the looks of your M3, it is in the end your camera.

I understand from Roland that the snakeskin covering is from cameraleather.com so I went to that website to check out the white cobra skin. You gotta love the opening line of cameraleather's description of this covering: "Very popular and I don't know why."

Here's the website:http://www.cameraleather.com/colors/b&wcobra_snake.htm

(Sorry, Rich, didn't mean to hijack your thread!)

Rich, I have no idea about the price, but I just want to say that I miss you on the forum and the gallery ... for sure I'm not the only one.
Good luck with the sale. Best,
Marc

There are several people here who have enriched this website with their input. Rich is one of those people who have carefully started certain threads that have received thousands of views for a good reason.

How about coming back, Rich?

When the image popped up I saw disco balls and heard Barry White tuning up. I think I like your M2 better. :)

I agree with Frank on prices as well.......

Speaking of signature`s my signature`s just changed as well adding my trusty "ole" M6 BACK to my list, she had a 90 day vacation in the SF Bay area, I add a 1945 "Chrome" (Kugelager shutter) Leica IIIC and the beautiful Grey Leica IIIC K goes back west in part of a "trade" agreement :)

Just another memorable occasion in the wonderful world of Leica Cameras

My Lord, I'm glad he didn't follow this advice. After he put the Leica III outfit up for sale on Ebay, it brought over $600.

Not entirely unexpected prices. From what I've seen, a decent chrome III typically goes for about $200, and a black one for double that. (Heck, if I could get a black one for that price, I'd have bought it instead of my chrome one.)

Yes, I believe you are correct. That's why I was surprised when I read that many people agreed that a nice, intact black III was only worth about $200, even if it did need a minor CLA. The resultant auction price from Silfver's sale shows the demand for nice black Leica thread mount cameras. And $100 for a really nice uncoated Elmar? A little low, if you ask me.
