Hi folks,

Not quite the stature of Aperture magazine, but I got published in a local magazine of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. In print, and also on-line:

The BW was made with a rangefinder: Bessa T w/ a Voigtlander Color-Skopar 35/2.5

Thanks for looking,

John

I think any kind of publication is worth feeling good about. Both shots were great but the b&w door did it for me. I really like the texture. Wonderful work. I'd like to hear more about how you got the results you did from the shot.

Congrats John! It's great to see a fellow RFFer doing well. I differ from gb hill though: I prefer the "Coastal pond" shot - it has beautiful colours, a wonderful atmosphere and a nice composition.

Good work!

Thanks, all. The Coastal Pond photo was made about two years ago when I was first reinvigorating my photographic activity. I had recently obtained a Nikon D70 and it was one of my first "good" results. This was after the Mississippi Gulf Coast had been decimated by Katrina, so one had to look hard to find areas that had any natural beauty. This little pond is maybe 4 miles north of the coast, just off a bayou and bay.

The door was made some time later in New Orleans. I was using Ilford XP2; I don't do any developing or darkroom work. It seems that the lab processing tends toward very contrasty results, a natural effect for this door. Perhaps I tuned it up a bit in Photoshop as well. I really think it's the XP2 that contributed the most though.

Thanks,

John

Nice job on both photos. I think I like '638' a bit more, but both are nice. Congratulations on getting published, and thanks for sharing with us!
