Just rec a Zorki 5 with 2 Industar 50 3.5, one Rigid and collapsible.

The glass looks good on both, but the focus threads on the collapsible are bone dry, and the focus is jumpy and tough. What type of grease can/should I use the lube the focus threads???

Thanks in advance!

PS

Love the feel of the 5, it's a hefty machine, and the advance feels nice and smooth. Just shot a test roll to see how close the ss are. I think they are running slow.....

Thanks again!

If you happen to have any auto wheel bearing grease handy (particularly the style for drum type brakes), I'd try it first. I think you'll be surprised at how much a thick compound like this will help. That lens had a lot of looseness in it naturally.

It will feel shakey without any thick grease, once applyed though the lens sits in place well and focus nicely. The only thing that is weird is that there is no way to keep them collapsed (at least my version).

I had done a search b4 posting, but wanted to get a fresh answer as well.

Looks like the 2 best options are Mobil synth grease, or bearing grease.

Now I've got a project for the weekend!

Thanks again! :p
