View Full Version : Canon P - Which cases will fit?
Hi...I'd like to find a nice brown leather strap and/or case. Does anyone know where I might find a retro looking, brown leather strap? Also...which other cases will fit a Canon P? I'm thinking the 7 will...but maybe there are others.
I'm a new member...really glad to have found this forum.
The P is 144mm wide X 76mm tall X 31mm thick.
The 7 is 140mm wide X 81mm tall X 31mm thick So the case might be a little tight.
the L-1 L-2 L-3 VI-L cases would be very close being only 1mm wider then the P's body.
there are "bump" cases for use with the P/L/VI with Canon-meter clipped-on, and cases without bump, which should also fit the V. The P and sister models will fit into a "7" case because it's (without meter attached) slightly lower.. The ground plate size of all the mentioned models is the same.
cheers, Frank

The Canon 7 case is Black. Original cases pop up often on Ebay for ~$25. I found one for my Canon Vt for that price, which is unusual as its tripod socket is on the opposite side of the later Canons.
A Cheap Good case that will also fit IF you move the tripod socket is the case for the Vivitar SL220 or Argus Cosina STL 1000. I used one for my Canon L1.
Thanks for the suggestions...what about an IIIg, M2 or M3 case? Would these fit?
I really love the patina of those older brown, leather cases...especially if their in really good shape.

i'm guessing the tripod socket is in the wrong place for those cases.
so hibbs, have you heard the band 'the subdudes'?

Yeah...you're probably right. I should just keep an eye out for a Canon case. There is a Camera Swap Fair next month near my town. I'll try there.
No...never heard of them. But I do listen to a band called "Lowest of the Low"...does that count?

i never use a case, keeps the pace too slow for me.
ebay has the occasional canon p case for auction but i don't usually pay too much attention to them.
lowest of the low? nah, haven't heard of them.
subdudes are good though.

Canon RF cameras have an angled end Leicas are round this could be a problem
IT is a problem I jsut checked my L-1 will NOT fit into my IIIg case the L-1 is to wide (and it's the same 144mm as the P) also as I stated the shape is wrong.
It was suggested the tall 7 cases would work Well only if they are wider then they need to be as the 7 is not as wide as a P. by 4mm.
Good advice...I'll keep that in mind when I'm pouring over old cases.
Joe...I'd like to just use the case bottom with strap and ditch the rest.
