Firmware 1.107 is out on the Leica site... I'll wait till this evening with trying it though. ;)

It is available on the German site.

Installed! I'm interested to see if it behaves any better than 1.102 which was giving me the occasional b&w striped screen or displayed the previous picture in auto review. It would also be nice if they have solved the "sudden death" syndrome where the whole camera would just go dead which has happened 4-5 times in the 8 months I've had it.

I can't work this out ... when I go to the Leica AG site for the firmware update it only shows the PDF file for the instructions on installation ... no zip file!

Am I missing something ... I found and used the previous one ok!

At least my problems seem to be over with this version. Took 96 shots this afternoon. No b&w banded review images just after shooting and no previous image instead of last. The IR cast seems subdued although I didn't purposely test and appears only as fringe on greenery in strong backlit contrast.

Hi ISO noise seems down quite a bit. Still not quite there for 2500, but the others are pretty good now - BIG improvement.

That's good news, indeed.

Downloaded and installed with no problems from the US/English site. Install went without a flaw. Will not know if there is an improvement till this weekend!

Done, installed, and first few pictures taken. Noise is MUCH smoother on white walls- chroma noise is down, at least. Pictures look nicer.

I also haven't seen the "big square" JPG compression artifacts, but I've not completed testing.

Wow! Just shot under three types of lighting, tungsten, florescent, and mixed. The WB looks dead on on the camera display. Noise is SMOOTH at 1250. Whoopee!

Thank you father Leica!

And it's all taken care of, nice and smooth.

We'll see if I notice a difference tommorow.

OK, about 50 images later I will have to say that the higher ISO images ARE smoother. I hope it is not my imagination. I wish I had taken some images just before the update to compare. I do not use higher ISOs often!

I'd love to put it on my own M8, but Leica has had my M8 since May 21st, and no sign of it coming back yet. Calls are not getting returned. I'm beginning to get extremely pissed off.

It may just be coincidence but now my 2 Zeiss (hand-coded) lenses are not being recognized with the firmware. I hope it's just the markings have rubbed off and not something Leica did with making lens coding tolerances higher somehow in the firmware.

Can anyone confirm that their hand-coded lenses are still recognized with new firmware. Thank you in advance.

Anyone who's hoping the freezing problem is over ... forget it. Mine did it today after about twenty shots ... it was also consistently displaying the previous frame when reviewing ... more so than ever in fact!

Sigh!!! :(

I do not understand how your camera could do this and not others. It leads me to think that there is a physical problem with your M8 as I have never seen this problem with any of mine and I have owned three M8s.

The freezing problem seems to have been reported by a few owners from memory and it's not something that happens constantly ... in fact in the three months I have had the camera it's probably done it four times. It caught me by surprise today but is easily remedied by removing and refitting the battery. The frame reviewing glitch was the first time in a month and happened three or four times in a row ... then ok!

The trouble with living in Oz is I am reluctant to complain as I would hate to lose the camera for a lengthy period for a warranty claim. I guess if it becomes a real problem I won't have any choice!
