Haven't seen one of these before. Looks like a QL-17. Any comments welcome.

My wife had one of those when we got married. She let me add it to my collection. Never used it, but she says that it's a piece of junk.

It has the same f2.8 lens as a Canonet QL28 and a very LARGE battery cmpartment.

I have a Black Datelux the same basic camera with a built in flash (first Canon to have such a flash) The lens is the same as the slow Canonet 40mm f2.8 good color above average resolution but not up to the 40mm f1.7. The batteries for mine and the earlier Datematic are two 1.35V Merc's and I would have to talk to my repair guy but since it uses two of them it most likely has a voltage regulator in the circuit just like the EF SLR body does and as such would be able to use two 1.5V Silver Oxides which aren't hard to find. You can use Alkalines but they have a very poor discharge rate for a meter the Silver Oxides would be a much better choice.

I've only used mine once having paid only I think $5.00 at a garage sale (it is in very very nice shape)

IMHO a decent Auto exposure RF for almost nothing.

IMHO, you're better off with the Hi-Matic E if you're looking for a full auto fixed lens RF, provided it's in reasonable shape, esp the battery compartment. Faster, sharper lens.
