During one of my trips to Germany, I picked up a like new Contessa LK camera. It has no RF and I have to guess focus. The lens is a Tessar 45mm/2.8. This is the first time that I ever used this camera.

I like the results a lot.

The kids look cute, you would get good results with a cam phone...

Noel: This would not be good news to me if I could have thrown away my camera gear and used a phone cam!

Thanks ... I think.

What you need is a pebble, coffee cup, or one of your cameras as subject to photo.

Feed the girls some ice cream.

Thank you Keith. I also like the performance of the Tessar lens.

Noel,

This is the one thing that I will not do here; I only enjoy taking photos of my family.

I need to leave any moment to take my daughters to their swimming lesson at the university aquatic center.

Ice cream is reserved for later.

Noel,

I hope that I will get to that age when I will see my grandchildren.
Yes, kids grow up very fast.

The photos are snapshots to test the camera.

Very nice, Raid. I have one of the folder-type Contessas, the Contessa 35. See here:

What a piece of brass! Incredible workmanship, almost over-engineered. I believe it has the same lens as your LK.

I rarely use it (maybe couple times a year) and every year or so tell myself I should sell it. Then I pick it up, fire it off a couple times, look at the lens, and remember how sweet it is. So it stays.

Hi Rich,

Your folder type Contessa looks more sophisticated than my LK P&S camera. Yes, both have the Tessar 45mm/2.8. I also left my camera untouched for many years.

Cheers,

Hi Raid,

my father bought a Contessa LKE (the sister of the LK with RF) back in 1965. Later, being eight years old, I took my first picture with it. It gave me many fine pictures over the years and I still have it, fully working.

My LKE has a Tessar 50/2,8. Sadly Zeiss chose to implement front cell focusing, which degrades the performance a little.

Hi Andreas,

Does my LK has also front focusing?
Most likely it does.
The rangefinder in your LKE would be nice to have.

It's easy to check, Raid. Just open the back and look at the rear lens element while focusing.

Yep LK(E) has front focusing but is it not bad at f/5.6 or higher

I used 5.6 in most of the photos when I used the LK recently.
