I just bought a new tripod to use with my Bessa R2A, and it seems to work great except for one problem. I can't use my 35 PII lens, because the focus tab sticks down past the base of the camera and hits the tripod head plate. This prevents me from being able to turn the focus ring
Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone have a good idea for a solution? I think I need some kind of extension plate that has a smaller surface area, but I don't know if such a thing exists.
Thanks,
Paul
They do exist. Mamiya made an extention plate for their 6 and 7 rangefinders and Horseman made one for their SW612 Pro. For your model camera, I am not sure a particular plate is made, but if you try places like B&H or Really Right Stuff, I am sure you can find something that will work.
You could always cut the focusing tab off the lens.

Finder,
Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried searching a bunch of the online retailers and I can't find anything that looks like what I need. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places. Do you have any suggestions for how to search for this thing, what category to find it in, or what it would be called?
Paul
You need a slotted platform so you can slide the camera up to the edge, which make and model is the platform?

Stewart,
It has a built-in head, so I'll have to find an add-on adapter of some sort. (I wanted this one because it's so light and I'm planning to take it backpacking.)
The tripod is Slik Sprint Pro: http://www.thkphoto.com/products/slik/slik-ss2.html
The slotted platform makes sense. I look for one.
Thanks,
Paul
