My God, this guy is incredible. I saw at least two Luxus Leicas, god knows how many Contaxes and IIIfs and IIfs and Daguerreotype cameras and photos -- Dag portraits from the 1840s, Ansel Adams and Bourke-White originals, actually originals of EVERYTHING you can imagine, Cirkut prints, unopened packs of "high speed" glass plates from the 1800s -- and original Edgerton equipment and spy cameras and a 4' long lens and a 12 inch wide lens and...

The only thing I didn't see were digital backs, or for that matter very much digital at all. A true traditionalist. A really incredible guy to talk to, as well :)

The sad part is that it's going to be auctioned off.

If I were a serious camera collector, I would absolutely get in touch with Jack and book an airplane ticket to Boston. Fortunately I'm just a student living in Boston who's lucky enough to land a job that got me to the Naylor collection! :)

I got a call today from a Boston Globe reporter who read this thread.

She is working on Mr. Naylor's obituary. :(

Does this mean he is deceased? Or is she doing the obituary on "spec"?

Does this mean he is deceased?
That's correct.
