After 6 months wait and help from Andrea in Solms, and Shirley and Latika at Leica USA, my WATE is sitting at home waiting for me (my wife called). And not a moment too soon as we leave for Europe tomorrow! Yeow, that was close! Now, I am excited to be going. Sounds weird but after what I've heard and read here and at LUG I knew it was the 30% discount lens for me. Will post photos after July 8th. Ciao!

Kind of ashamed to say it but I think (haven't seen the actual card charge yet) it was ~$1700 plus the finder. Don't quote me as it's been so darned long ago I may have forgotten. Played with it this evening. The finder's not so bad - not so small either. Anyway I made room for it in my small backpack next to the 29/1.9 CV. Will post when back. Wish us luck.

So, what do you (lucky b.... in the US) pay for the M8+WATE combo...?

The price you indicated for the lense alone is close to a 1,000 US$ cheaper than what I bought it to in (April) Singapore. - In Norway the price is for the M8+WATE combo will be NOK 37.029,00 + 31.610 (w/viewfinder) = 68.639,00 - Sales tax included.

- That's 11,440 US $

So, why are you americans complaining that 'Leica is so expensive' all the time.

Olsen those prices are the 30% discount offer prices for those who purchased prior to 12/31/06, not current retail prices or after the price increase to come in July.

The M8 body is still selling at $4795 USD in the U.S., and is to increase to $4995 in July.
