I just got a Himatic 7s in the mail that I won on eBay, dirt cheap. I now am a rangefinder user again, after many years with SLR's. I had a Himatic 7 back in 1972 that used PX13/ 625 batts, if my memory hasn't failed. Can anyone tell me if I am correct? Also, what will be the effect of using a modern alkaline A625 battery be in lieu of ther lower voltage original? Yes, I can get the Wein cells easily if the voltage makes a difference.

The neat thing about this camera I just bopught is that it is in better shape than the one I had eons ago. I can actually se the focus spot in this one!

My first post on this forum. Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

Luckily the shutter speeds and f stops work correctly. Does anyone have an idea which battery this thing takes? Or does everyone just ignore the EV meter in the finder?

Windwalker 57,

I use a PX 625 cell in mine. I've read that others will work, however, I prefer to use the wein cell. I get mine from Vintage Batteries.com
Love my 7s, takes great shots.

Thanks! I'll pick up a battery when I buy some film. My stock expired, I need to replace it.
