Just came in the mail this morning...carefully opened it up, charged it up...

Then I realized I didn't have a memory card! I thought I had one but I can't seem to find it anyone...

To bad Leica couldn't of splurged and included one with the M8. Anyway, I'l have one by tommorow and then I can start shooting.

I can't remember being this excited in a long long time.

Don't you have a local BestBuy or camera store to get one and go shhoting today? Either way congrats and have fun shooting. Nice photos of your toys.

Make sure you get one that is on the approved list. i use the SanDisk Extreme III 2GB cards, they work great.

Working two jobs, and living on raman and other people's leftovers for a couple months helped. I've learned that I need to work hard and make sacrifices to get what I want. I sold some guitars that I don't play anymore which helped pay for a chunk of it.

Then it pays off at it's all worth it.

Sounds like a perfect opportunity to see how it feels in your hands without the winding lever!

I hope you enjoy your M8..post some photos for us.

Congrats ... great camera! I'm puzzled though ... mine came supplied with a 1 gig card ... a Sandisk with a Leica symbol on it. I gather you have checked the packaging very carefuly? :D

That must be a collectors item - have you sent it to Westlicht yet? My SD card with Leica symbol is 64 Mb :(

And now I'm here at work and they're sitting on my back porch at home..."the longest day..."

And I carfully dissected the box and did not find an included memory card, was there supposed to be? should I make a big deal out of it? I wasn't planning on, but if it should of been included it should of been included.

Damn, even more reason for me to want one.
I've got 4K saved for an M8, though with college coming up I'm seriously considering buying some Canon L glass for my 20D. I hate it when schools require you to have an DSLR and don't accept a Leica as a quality substitute. :bang:

That's where my Fuji S3 comes into play, by dad upgraded and sold it to me for nil, and I get to take my pick of all his nikon glass.

these "woohoo, got my M8"-posts just keep turning my head slowly :o one day I fell too, am afraid.

right now I could not justify it with any rational explanation. hope I'm able play time and wait when
more used ones are showing up from net auctions...

It puts a smile on my dial every time I use it ... it's a unique experience and it is a shame that it's out of the price range of a lot of people. I think some like the fact that it's price tag makes it somewhat exclusive ... I don't see it that way and wish Leica could sell it for a fair bit less than the $7000.00 Australian I had to pay!

In reality I don't think there will ever be cheap second hand units available ... they will come up but I suspect that this is a camera that people will hang on to!

It's so nice that it has finally become a camera we can appreciate without all the negative hype that was going on a while ago!

I spent all night out on the town shooting, and I can't remember the last time i've had that much fun.
There will always be a special place in my heart for my film, meterless M, but it's goign to be pretty lonely for a good while.

Right now I'm shooting with a Summicron 50 and I've been borrowing a 35 skopar, Im trying a bunch of 35's to find one that works best for me, I really like the skopar though.
