Hey, all the other camera dedicated fora here have a 'show us your camera' thread...
Here is my new (to me) 1954 Rollei MX-EVS with the Schneider-K Xenar 3.5/75 before I change out the peeling front, top and back leathers with a custom cut from Morgan at CameraLeather.com ...
http://goodphotos.com/RolleiWeb.jpg
When I have the leather changed, I'll post the Two Toned Rollei photos too.
Well, here is one of my cameras (this is the Rolleicord IV). I've got a Ia Model 3 and a Vb too.

well, it's not exactly my Rolleiflex, but it used to be... the crank went away and a very small but absolutely necessary part with it, so I sold it for part.... and bought another one, grey that time. My first T was a very early one, 1958. The current one was built in 1959-1960. It's amazing how different the photos are between the two cameras. I prefered the first one, but this one is amazing too...

I have a 2.8E and it is off to Horst Wenzel for a much needed CLA and as Horst put after 50+ years - it is time. The 3.5T will go in after the 2.8E is back in hand. The T is just like new condition - with box even. Both are just a joy to shoot.
Gordy's Straps has designed a version for the Rolleiflex - and I have two on the way with neck pad. You might want to check with Gordy if you are looking for a strap.
T.
The quality of the picture is not good, but I took it 10 minutes ago for this thread.

Welcome!
We have two show-off-your-TLR threads in the TLR sub-forum.
They are the TLR and beverage (http://rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38540) thread, and the WOW, look at our new toy (http://rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38498) thread :)
The beverage thing is a reference to our Camera & Coffee (http://rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=897) thread.
Ah. Thanks.
I've got a bottle of Scotish Mead on order. Will have to wait for that one. (By then the camera will likely be Two Toned!)
Some eastern TLRs. Not trying to compare them with a Rollei but, very much against the general opinion, I like the photos made with them. Probably a matter of luck with the lenses in these models (certainly a very good price/result relationship...).
Three Russian sisters (the Komsomolyets is more a grandmother than a sister) and a Czech cousin.
Regards
Joao
No Mamiya tlrs here yet? Better fix that :)

This is my Ricoh Diacord with one of my new straps (http://www.electricedge.com/gordy_s_straps/store/neck-string-double/index.htm) that terrycioni ordered. Actually, it was an idea of Terry's that gave me the direction to come up with this strap design. Thanks Terry!

OK. I got my custom leather kit from Morgan at CameraLeather.com (http://cameraleather.com) to replace the peeling leather on my MXEVS. I thought, why do the whole thing...why not come up with something unique, so I went with granite (gray) leather on the front top and back and left the sides (which are in fine condition) and the center portion of the finder in black. Morgan tells me this is the first two tone Rollei that they've cut. I still need to clean up the old adhesive from where it has bleed out on to the chrome in the back, but the leather fit perfectly and was a breeze to put on. (Click either photo for a larger view)

Here is my MX-EVS Rollei.
Here's my sweetie Yashica-mat 124G (Jassikkamaatti as my finnish friend calls her), she was spanking new when I bought her and has seen some use since then, couple of good-looking battle scars on her. Sorry about the poor picture, It's almost morning here in Finland and my curtains are closed, so it's pretty dark here.
Oh, and the funny thing about my Yashica is that the lightmeter works! And its darn accurate. The batterydoor is stuck (or I haven't used enough strength) so I cant check that what kind of battery she has. I could guess that it is the Legendary PX625. The leather case is nearly falling apart so I have to find a new strap soon. I also have the close-up add-on lenses for it, but havent used them yet. Do they detoriate optical quality? Because the Yashinon lens is quite a killer stopped down to f.5.6 or f.8

People get far too worried about how big the Mamiya is. This example has the 135mm lens.
By the way, one of these cameras isn't mine.

I swear I had already posted this in this thread. Maybe I'm on drugs. Anyway, please forgive the crummy photo, it was cropped from a "family portrait" taken with a friend's {d-word} camera. :)

how the hell do you manage to keep your cameras in such a perfect condition? Do you wear wild-silk gloves when talking photos with them? I take good care of my Rollei but it has little dents etc showing that the camera has been used the last 50 years, and I always use a camera case and... that's not fair!

it's a tele attachement. i've got one for my T and the quality is not particularly good. Big vignetting, loss of contrast... and focusing down to 3m (9ft)... but the camera looks like a cine camera with them attached...

.... the Ricoh Diacord L that I bought here on RFF; it took me a whole roll of film to figure out how to use the exposure system, and I'm not sure if it's accurate. So, I have a Sekonic L-208 on the way (though I sure was tempted by those Voightlander meters that fit on the cold shoe).
http://www.pbase.com/image/87455420.jpg
There are photos I made with it in the film gallery link below.
Chris, I can't help but feel inspired to get out and use the 'Cord when I see your light table shot. The 2.8s are really nice, but they are rare in Sweden and abroad they seem to cost more than I ever want to pay. Unless someone has a nice one to trade for my Hasselblad? :D
Otherwise, nice photos all round in the thread!
The 2.8D is basic and functional with its sharp 80mm/2.8 Planar lens but without a meter. It is still also my favorite. This model was produced in the year when I was born. It has to be special!

The two Yashica Mat 124 Gs and the little Yashica 44 LM are making fun of the poor little Ross Ensign Ful-Vue Super...
I know something is strange about the 124 on the left. It seems to have the body of a Yashica Mat 124 (not "G") but still has the meter and name plate of the "G" version. god knows why. I love both of them. I think the earler chrome lever and copal were a little more bootiful though. Maybe.

My Ricoh Diacord and Meopta Flexaret Va. They are works in progress. I bought the Flexaret over three years ago but the focusing screen was dim and dirty. I never could figure out how to get the top off so it sat. A friend gave me the Diacord. I cleaned off the focusing screen but I have a hard time focusing on just ground glass. So it sat, too. Then I discovered Rick Oleson (http://rick_oleson.tripod.com/)'s focusing screens (http://rick_oleson.tripod.com/index-175.html) with a split image spot. The screens transform these cameras. Now I'm measuring for new leather. More pictures and a longer story at my Flickr set (http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordoncoale/sets/72157605258591865/).
I think i already showed off my 2,8F planar & Tele rollei, but they have now been joined by a Rolleicord Vb & a Yashicamat.

Hi,
This is the Mamiya C3 which I bought on eBay with 65mm and 180mm lenses.
I have replaced the light seals and taken the 65mm lens apart as much as I could to clean it, so now it sparkles.
After a 35mm camera I'm enjoying the huge focussing screen. I'm hoping to reduce my high percentage of dissapointing photos by composing more carefully, we'll see. It's certainly slowed me down :-)
I've been enjoying the TLR forum and will post a picture from the Mamiya when I get a result I like. The first film was dissapointing, but I probably have to take the blame for that myself :-(

Not a "full body" shot, but I like my 2.8f! Just bought a Rolleinar 2 and 3 close up lens set. I actually used the Rolleinar 3 with a 35 cron on my M8 for this shot.
One Eastern European, the other Nippon...
Spent the weekend taking the Diacord G to pieces and giving it a clean... was mostly successful save for the bulb setting not working anymore... oh well... that'll teach me not to open shutters for a look see... Am going to run a roll through it asap to see if the scratches on the lens are anything to worry about...

Set of Zeiss Opton Mutar set of Tele 1.5X and Wide 0.7X. Although I mount them on RIII cameras (i.e. 2.8F, 2.8GX etc), with suitable adaptor rings the mutars can also be mounted on RII cameras (i.e. 3.5F etc).
The two Mutar has external filter thread of E67, Zeiss Opton has produced filter specifically for Mutars as shown.

Well, I did't compare them side by side as they are mutually exclusive, I won't bring Tele-Rolleiflex together with 2.8F and a Mutar 1.5X. I remember Mutar vignettes and to me it is not a bad thing.
May be I check the minimum focus distance tomorrow. For Tele-Rolleiflex, it isn't close enough and I have to use with a Rolleinar 0.35.

How can we forget this accessory for Rolleiflex TLR in Rangefinderforum.
This Rolleimeter can be mounted on top of a Rolleiflex TLR, this particular model is for 3.5 TLRs. With this accessory the TLR behaves like a rangefinder camera.
The Rolleimeter is used like a sport viewfinder but with rangefinder capability. The lever of Rolleimeter will move out by the TLR lens platform when the TLR focus closer than infinity and turn a mirror inside. This mirror project a image to the semi-silvered mirror at center of a 45 degree-angled glass strip and when object is in focus the projected image will overlap with the object observed.

My Rolleiflex collection 3
Rolleiflex 2.8GX, TLR with TTL metering...
Not sure whether this qualifies for TTL, it is more TTFL (Through The Finder Lens) than TTTL (Through The Taking Lens) ;) The meter doesn't read a filter attached to the taking lens.
Depending on the nature of the filter I regard this as a good or bad thing. For a 25A (B&W red filter) I never got good results with a TTL system. Metering without filter and applying the filter factor works a lot better for me. If I don't have a handheld meter and removing the filter everytime I want to take a light reading is a pain
Seems an issue of the red sensitivity of the film and the meters I tried is to different. Yellow filters on a TTL system typically don't create issues here.

Well, I took this a bit "kitschy" picture in the summer of 2007 when I got the Rolleiflex T in perfect condition, but I like it (I even have it on my VISA card :p). I have shot 50 rolls of film since. It is my smallest film camera, so I am not sure whter I can call it a "medium format" ;) I really like using it and people definitely respond better when photographed with TLR than an SLR. But I really do often miss AE so I may go with the new Bessa III if it comes out at reasonable price.

Rolleiflex T was my first Rolleiflex twenty years ago, with its Tessar 75/3.5, I took a number of good photos at those old days. One point that I dislike is the awkward shutter release position make it difficult to stabilise at low shutter speed.

Tele-Rolleiflex with Rolleinar 0.35...
Tele-Rolleiflex uses simple platform as 2.8F and 3.5F, as such the range of physical movement with regard to focusing is the same. This limits the near focus capability and defeat the main purpose people using Tele-Rolleiflex, i.e. portraiture.
In order to take head and shoulder shot, a Rolleinar 0.35 has to be used to extend close focus capability.

Thanks Way, they are an impressive camera. I find the handling a little awkward, learning where I can put my fingers and where I can't. And yes, a 55mm and a 180mm would round out the kit nicely! :)

T.
Hi Terry,
Could you tell us more about Horst Wenzel's work and why you chose him to do the job? Do you live in the USA?

My new to me rolleiflex - $40 at a junk shop. $80 later on a CLA and it's in great shape.

Arrived in the mail today, one Rolleicord 1a Type 2
http://www.flibweb.nl/flibweb/cpg143/albums/userpics/10001/rolleicord.jpg
Gave the shutter a naphtha flush which brought its speeds back on track. Gave the triotar a clean, but it looks a little hazy.
Now all I need is a new strap and a way to restore the leatherette.

I found a cheap beater Rolliflex T and felt that I had to buy it as a memento of an era that definitively ended with the closure of Franke and Heideke (http://www.bjp-online.com/public/showPage.html?page=864695). The camera seems to work, but I will change the loose leatherette on the front and sides.

These pictures are ugly, but my Mamma Miya and what I call the Frankencord. Notice in the second picture that this appears to be a Rolleicord that somebody has grafted Nikon Aires TLR lenses onto. Works reasonably well, I'm going to try and give it some exercise in the coming weeks.
I hate to be a nay-sayer or to bring disappointment to anyone but to me, your Frankencord looks more like an Aires Reflex with a Rolleicord nameplate. I hasten to add that as much as I would like to be, I am no expert on Rolleis. It may be that there are other identifying marks, however, the photos I have looked at indicate that the closesest Rollei relative is the III model. However that has the shutter release and flash sockets reversed. The hood also does not appear correct - closer to the II model. On the other hand, the Frankencord is almost identical to a photo I have of an Aries Reflex except that has two sockets (X and M). The more basic Airesflex has a single socket and the body looks the same except for the lenses.

Thanks, no worries about disappointing me - it was a cheap garage sale find, so I can live with it either way. I actually looked at the nameplate carefully and can't figure out how that could have been done, no welding marks or anything obvious. I'll take another look at it when I have it at hand, though.

Xenars from Schneider because Zeiss stopped
supplying camera lenses to F+H. I too have a

Re: Armored's Frankenchord. No need to speculate. Under the lower lens it says "AIRES CAMERA".
Anyway, to stay on this Aires subject, I have a Sears Tower TLR by Aires and I noticed that in the picture of the Rollei Automat IV posted by Gabrel M. A. there is a latch where the back is hinged. This looks exactly like my camera. Also, behind the knobs that you pull out to change the film there are circular plates attached to the body with three screws each. These look exactly like my camera right down to the orientation of the screws. Don't want to insult anyone's Rollei, but do you suppose they could have subcontracted this body out to Aires?

This is exactly what I have...I'm just borrowing Steve's posted photo...
Mine looks just as nice as his...I also have the back half of the camera case on mine...
I had to trade three camera bodies for mine and at the time I thought I gave up too much but as of lately I know I got the better of the deal...
I always look forward to printing with the negs this camera produces...:D
I quite like the Mamiya TLR cameras. Anachronistic in this era of digital, but the lenses are very sharp, combined with Portra 120 film, I would be hard pressed to create the images that I manage to capture with this camera - digitally, my scan files are 45-60 mb each! Purchased on EBay for $150, I added a Beattie split screen, which dramatically improved the light from the waist level finder, added the grip, and with the Voigtlander meter, I have a fairly functional medium format camera. The nice thing about Mamiya TLR's, are their bellows, eliminating the need for extension tubes for close up or macro work. This and my Mamiya 6, are the perfect match for 120 film cameras and satisfy that format completely. I have reduced my gear down to 5 cameras this year and this one is definitely a keeper.

I started photography 16 years ago during my graphic design school with a Lubitel 166, then a Mamiya C330 I sold for a Rollei 6008. I bought my first Rollei TLR in 2005 for a travel in Gabon because I thought my 6008 would be too heavy, too fragile and too electricity dependant, and later I had the chance to buy the Wide and Tele for a bargain price…
I also collected 127 TLR, Rollei's pre/post war and Yashica's (all models in all colors, cute), but I sold them except the two above because I wasn't using them.

A Rolleiflex T (Germany) on the left and a Semflex Semi-Oto (France) on the right. Both great cameras. The Rollei is sharper but the Semflex has better greys (in a Leica feel according to me) and the Rollei needed repair (not the case of the French counterpart).
I still have not decided which one I will sell.

The Super Ricohflex is small and light. That alone makes it very useful. Add to it the fact that it takes sharp pictures. The corner sharpness is way less than the Diacord, but at the center, the Ricohflex is no slouch. For certain subjects, it creates a lovely effect.
That's why I have both. :D

I really like the "A". The manual winding takes a little more patience so you don't go into or past the next frame, but it's no trouble. The Yashimar lens gets a bad rap compared to the Yashinon and Yashikor lenses, but it really is pretty sharp. Good luck with yours! You're gonna like it! :D

Really beautiful indeed. Is it used sometimes, or does it stay in its case ?

I really like the "A". The manual winding takes a little more patience so you don't go into or past the next frame, but it's no trouble. The Yashimar lens gets a bad rap compared to the Yashinon and Yashikor lenses, but it really is pretty sharp. Good luck with yours! You're gonna like it! :D
Thank you! It arrived today. I spent some time cleaning but so far so good. The first Ilford FP4 is on, we will see!

Okay, I confess to Ful-Vue lust. I want one!
The Ful-Vue is sweet. You feel tempted to say: "Eat your porridge, my dear, and some day you'll be a grown Rolleiflex, too!" :-)

Ditto. Got any photos from the Ful-Vue you would like to share?

Sorry for the delay in replying. Oh yes, it sure does get used -- I actually took it to Vienna in December, and picked up that 85/2 lens from Leicashop.
It is a great camera - my favourite, in fact - and it is truly a joy to use.
Here is the Contaflex TLR thread I started. I think I need to add some more photos to this thread!

Happy to know that. I prefer to use than to collect, even when the gear is so beautiful. ;)
