Hello to all, I am a new member and this is my first post. I have a M3 but dont know if it's a single or double stroke. Please can someone tell me the difference between them and how to identify.

Whether it is a single or double stroke depends on whether it requires one or two full strokes of the film advance lever to advance the film to the next frame (and cock the shutter).

Check the SN, most later than 92XXXXXX is SS. But just as Richard said, you can play with the camera. More direct way to know SS or DS.

Welcome, Fidanzati. Whether DS or SS, the M3 is a fine machine. What lenses do you use with it?

Welcome..

A double stroke will take 2 short strokes of the advance lever to advance and cock the shutter.

Thank to all for the warm welcome! So, it turn out that I have SS, but I still don't know the advantage of one over the other...

No real advantage. The original M3 was standard with double stroke which was later changed to single stroke..

I bought the camera from a local pawnshop and looks clean ans sounds right.

Looking to buy a 35mm lens for it. Another question is that do I need goggle with the lens???

The M3 has framelines for 50, 90, and 135mm lens. In order to use a 35mm lens and still focus/view through the range/viewfinder you will need either a Summaron or Summicron lens with eyes..

...Looking to buy a 35mm lens for it. Another question is that do I need goggle with the lens???You need either a 35mm lens with goggles, or else a 35mm viewfinderfinder (which mounts on top of the camera in the accessory bracket) and a 35mm lens designed for use without goggles.

Do not buy a 35mm lens which was designed for use with goggles but for which the goggles are missing. It will not focus correctly without the goggles.
