I thought it was something else.
If I wear a brand, it'll be because they had to pay me to do it.
Thanks for the tip anyway!
Ha. I went in about a month ago asking if they had the large black hoodie and they said they were out. Damn. I should have bought one years ago.

Christ, I would think nothing would say "bozo" better than walking around with a camera logo sweatshirt.

edward, always a kind or positive thing to say...
how does this smart ass remark add to the harmony of this site?

I wonder if there ever are people that complain about dumb ass remarks
I agree with Francisco. Although, I did pay tens of thousands of dollars to go to college and I wear a few of their t-shirts once in a while; I gotta start sending them endorsement bills. ;)

Does nobody here have a sense of humor?
Is it possible to make a funny remark without offending someone's sensibilities?
Yes, I think it's foolish to walk around with a camera strap with a huge CANON or NIKON on it, or to wear a LEICA or CALVIN KLEIN t-shirt, or to list every single piece of equipment in your sig, for that matter.
I'm not stopping anyone from doing so if they feel like it, but why censure someone who makes a harmless contradiction to the norm?
If I wear a brand, it'll be because they had to pay me to do it.
Or at the very least because they gave it to me for FREE.

maybe it's HOW you say it?
and i honestly don't think it's all that funny.

Actually, they are very nice shirts. Maybe B&H will give me one as a reward for being a loyal customer so many years..HA

Robert Crumb did this whole cartoon on peol;e who walk around with corporate logos on their backwards baseball caps, the rear of their pants and their underwear. I thought it was hysterical.
Elmore Leonard wrote this very humorous essay about people with clothing with "words" on them.
I suppose it's how you view life.
I find it bizarre that grown men want to wear clothing with the names of camera companies on them. I suppose that actually dangling the camera on their neck doesn't identify them sufficiently.

good god...how bout a little warning for those at work :D
I dont see why one would be a bozo for wearing a company logo that they respect...if the hoodie is nice quality and reasonably priced...
Personally, I only weave my own clothes and use pinhole cameras that use film created from natural organic products...felch that corporate america

Leica might need to send me a check for endorsing them on a B.B. King dvd -- was interviewed and everything -- also for prominently using my leica on an episode of southern routes....
I wear hats and shirts that advertise the clubs I shoot in on beale street. .. maybe the city owes me a check for being so active on promoting them --
sorry about not warning you ... am in a mood today and a tad worn out
I thought 'bozo' was a coloquialism for 'clown' ... if so I don't really see the problem with Edward's post. He came in a trifle abruptly agreed but I'm afraid brand name clothing repulses me equally. :)

it's fine to say that you are repulsed.
it's not ok to call other folks names.
i understand a 'heat of the moment' comment but there is no need for rudeness just for the sake of being rude.
we are getting more and more comments from the members here that rff is becoming more and more like other rude sites.
i'd like for that not to happen.

just an fyi...both rover and i have been spending less time here because of work, in my case some of my job duties have changed and i'm not near a computer for long blocks of time - this has impact on my daytime moderating.

I have one of these sweatshirts in black and am proud to wear it. Guess I'm just a bozo ;-p
B&H sell them in their Used Dept at these same prices so they are available on the B&H website.
They are very nice shirts and most people can't even pronounce "E. Leitz" every once in a while I get a knowing nod from someone who does.
Thankyou .... don't work too hard! :D

I'm sure "moderator" is a synonym for something but I can't think quite what at the moment (answers on a postcard please) also the phrase "get a life" comes to mind. Oh and the suggestion to get a sense of humour would seem to equally apply...
I think we should buy one of these T-Shirts for Ed :D :D

Sorry I think you got me on a bad day. I just get tired of the various "moderators" adopting the role of "dictators" and policing threads in a heavy handed and unnecessary way. I would hazard a guess that the majority of members of this site are big grown up people who live love lie and swear and are not naive child like creatures who would shrink into a corner screaming and dialling a shrink at the mention of a word like "Bozo". This rant is not directed at this thread in particular, but I am becoming somewhat disturbed at the "nanny state" censoring of inocuous and frivolous remarks. At the risk of repeating myself...get a sense of humour.

i have a sense of humour but i also have an obligation to rff to keep this place a sanctuary for people to come to and enjoy themselves while talking about gear and photography.
it's way too easy to lose control and have a few negative types ruin a site.
i've seen it happen too many tmes for my liking.
plus, after only a handful of posts, i would think you might want to just watch for awhile and see if i really am the 'dictator' you think i am.
joe
Hey ... I've heard the mods at p.net are issued with mace gas and a batton ... plus a suicide pill in case they can't evade capture and possible interrogation.
You're a 'pussycat' Joe! :p

I think a mildly sarcastic or flippant remark directed at overly self-indulgent or self-satisfied people is hardly equal to a determined troll trying to destroy a forum with negativity.
OK, there will be some people offended at the tone of certain pointed remarks, but that's life.
Another way to destroy a forum is to over-sanitize it. A "Stepford" forum of totally like-thinking people is also a recipe for boredom.
I posted a few days ago about my dislike for using "cron" and "lux" instead of "Summicron" and "Summilux".
Is that a crime? From the reaction of people here, you'd think I'd just posted a notice of heresy.
PS: "Edward Felcher" is not my real name. If people wish to analyze it or identify it with a disgusting act, I find it amusing. I'm not particularly sensitive about silly name calling on an online forum.

I don't think anyone personally cares about your level of sensitivity, Edward. Until you establish yourself as a member of the forum who contributes substantive information instead of insecure attacks on people's grammar and style of dress, you'll be a troll. Whether such a distinction makes ontological sense to you is of little relevance to the rest of us. Maybe, if we're lucky, you will simply go away.

I would say if you searched the forum for my technical posts where I answer questions my level of camera and photography expertise exceeds yours by several large orders of magnitude.
YOU never answered my question about whether you were a native New Yorker or transplanted flyover from Podunk.

I've seen that and a number of other recent posts, such as the one where you complained about the use of the spelling 'lense'. I'd like to make two remarks on that.
Firstly, from an entirely neutral point of view, many of your posts especially in this discussion here and the "lense" discussion do seem to me at least a bit more engaged than warranted by the subject. I'm not sure if that's deliberate or intentional, and I realise that in an online forum it's quite easy to come across differently than intended, hence I hesitate to call them "rude". If you intend to come across this way, I can't say I appreciate it; if you don't, I guess you might be interested to have this pointed out.
Secondly, I don't understand why on one hand you complain about "over-sanitisation", and then on the other hand repeatedly and vigorously criticise others' use of language on what seems to me trivial matters (extra "e" in "lense") or more or less established figures of speech in the Leica subculture ("'cron" for "Summicron" etc.). I just don't grasp how the two go together: linguisitic purism on one hand and an outspoken stance against sanitisation on the other.

So your parents had you in New York and you decided to stay. Good for you! That's a fabulous accomplishment, Ed. I must say that if my attempts to gain attention from anonymous people on the internet was backfiring, the first thing I would do would be to attempt to render them un-anonymous, too (you know, see if the real me was at least better than the real them, etc.) If I told you I was from Tokyo, Dublin or San Francisco, which answer would make you feel better, Ed? Since you're so curious, why not look into it yourself. You do like to do that sort of thing, too, right? You know, being a snoop in addition to being a troll. Most internet crazies do a bit of both. We had another guy named Frank on RFF last year who even made a webpage about the rest of us after he got really angry. Do you get really angry, too?

I hope you dog is still getting enough walking if you work has changed.
This thread has left me with another caption for my teashirt
"my other cam is dig" in cryllic my baseline caption and the new word above.
So there is always something useful in life.

Being a snoop? Looking into it myself? Pursuing people because I'm an "internet crazy"?
Where on earth do you come up with this nonsense?
Let's see, I made a comment about ONE of your publicly posted photos.
In what paranoid fantasy does that translate into being a "snoop" or my ruminating about posting a web page about someone someone here?
I have no interest in you, anything personal about you, or anyone else here for that matter. It's just words on an internet forum.
You, on the other hand, seem to be internalizing everything I post and taking personal offense. You follow almost every post I make with an inane remark. Who's "really angry"? I would be totally unaware of your existence if you didn't keep dogging my posts.
