Welcome to RFF's newest sponsor, Tom Abrahamsson of RapidWinder.com

Tom is the inventor and manufacturer of the RapidWinder, SoftRelease, MiniSoftRelease, and RapidGrip in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Major help and inspiration is provided by his wife Tuulikki and his famous cat Mr Barnack. Tom is a true Leica M expert, both in terms of history and in terms of shooting. Additionally he has more than a passing interest in Nikon Rangefinders. Tom’s input has had a major impact with the entire Cosina Voigtlander lineup through Tom’s friend Mr. Kobayashi, the owner of Cosina. On top of all of that, Tom is one of the most congenial and likeable people you will ever meet. I feel RFF is very fortunate to enjoy Tom’s sponsorship and participation.

This is wonderful news, as Tom is an inspiration to me as a photographer and creative designer. Witness his recent February push to get us all out to shoot and share. He and Tulikki have created a great source for innovative products and camraderie. Their support of our "home" here will add to our enjoyment. Thanks to Tom, Tulikki, and Mr. Barnack.

Stephen,

Terrific news!!

Both Tom and Tuulikki are great people and the quality of Tom's products are unmatched both in design as well as production. I own both the softrelease as well as a rapidgrip.

RFF is fortunate to have Rapidwinder as a sponsor and T&T as a resource.

We are all very lucky to have Tom and his encyclopaedic knowledge join us here on RFF. I have always found him to be a generous resource on all things rangefinder-related, and I am constantly running into people around the world who always have a kind word about him.

This is a wonder addtion to the sponsor list. In my dealings with Tom and Tuulikki I've found them to be in the small group of the best of the best. I've seen Tom chime in here from time to time on different topics helping people out. Our niche is very lucky to have such a great team, honest, smart and fun.

Perhaps we should start of thread of ideas for Tom to see if there is enough demand to make a product. I'll start with making a reversable lens hood for the CV 40/1.4!

The Rapidwinder is amazing. If you're a left-eye M shooter, Tom's winder is an absolute must. Superb product from superb people.

Off topic, if we're nominating products for T&T to make, I'd go for an M2/3/P rewind crank attachment, of brass, of course.

I asked him off line, but will throw it out here...

I would be interested in his minisoft releases with RFF on the top, don't have any idea how many he will need to make to make it doable, but if he sees enough responses here?????

I'd be interested in both a regular sized softrelease and a mini.

Looks like Tom already has plans for a RFF badged soft release:

I had a second-hand rapidwinder for the iiic - LOVED IT! Sold it when I got the M6s though. The challenge of 3 fps with a Barnack was just too much for me... ;)

Hi Tom,
When you have time I'd like a digital back for my Nikon S camera. Since I know you are busy please don't include an LCD. Only an ISO dial. Thanks!:)

Its funny, I often saw Tom around when I was living and working in Kitsilano, Vancouver, never said hi though.
