Any Rolleiflex FW or Rolleiflex "Wide" owners out there?

I want one, but don't want to spend thousands of dollars for one.

Yes, I have one. Also there's a chap on Flickr who is posting some nice stuff taken with one. He posts under the name Yein~

I'm just beginning to explore the camera, so can't offer any kind of informed opinion, except that it's very well built and beautiful to use. I've been using a 2.8F for some years and got the chance to pick up the FW at a good price. The FW feels very much like the F with the sole exception that the shutter release is not quite as smooth. I suppose it may get that way with use.

I have the Tele Rolleiflex and not its brother, the Rollei Wide.
The Tele is superb.
If the Wide is as good or better, then it is a super Rolleiflex.

Is either model actually "needed"? Not really.

For "tele", just step closer to the object with your regular Rollei, and when you want more covered with a "wide", simply take a few steps back.

Collectors are allowing such absurd prices.

Let's have a few Rolleiflex shots to mark what these cameras can do. Here's one for the road, of my wife and daughter, taken with my 2.8F

Agreed: a Rolleiwide would be fun. I now have one 'flex and two 'cords, and a third 'cord on the way.

I traded some stuff for one a few weeks ago. I only shot few rolls of with it and had 5x5 color prints made at a lab. So far from what I can see this is one top lens.

I have fallen in love with these cameras (Rolleis in general - I don't have a wide.)There is something about shooting them that no other camera equals for me. Perhaps its actually seeing the image on the glass focusing screen. It seems unreal, disconnected from the outside world, yet a projection of it. And the sound the hood makes when you slam it shut - nothing like that in the RF world - not even the "snick" of a Leica shutter. And of course, the photos are just beautiful. I also really like the square format - seems to achieve some kind of golden section for me.
