ok, so i'm alittle bored.

backfocus test with a few of my lenses. two shots with each lens. first with focus correct per the viewfinder. second with the image focused about 2~3mm closer than what the viewfinder reads (estimated by my drunk hands by turning the focus wheel 2~3mm).

remember, i'm drunk, and its all handheld at slow shutterspeeds. distance is about 2 meters.

i have to say back focus is there. is this a M8 thing, is this a leica M thing in general? i'm not sure. its not a big deal for me because i adjust for it when i take my pictures, but i have to say backfocus is definately there on my M8, atleast.

all lenses are taken with aperature wide open with iso 640. M8 jpegs. no post processing.

;)

i really need to go to sleep.

eh?!

You focus BETTER when you're drunk!? Now there's no excuse :D

If the camera is doing this with all lenses, seems to me it needs adjustment.

should i get my M8 adjusted or is this pretty much a normal thing with M bodies. i think there was also back focus issues with my M6TTL, but i've never really paid too much attention to it because my film pictures were never as sharp as my M8 shots, and i just take so many more pictures with the M8

How do you get drunk on Perrier water?

How do you get drunk on Perrier water?

It's not the Perrier, it's the malt extract he's putting in it :D

Cheers,

why would they design a body to back focus? Surely it's just a matter of adjusting the RF...

Per pfogle's post, you should get your M8 adjusted. I had mine adjusted when I had to send it in for another problem. I don't think backfocus is somehow endemic to all Leica M bodies; there may have been a manufacturing issue w/@ least some of the M8's re: backfocus (perhaps digital sensors require tighter/different tolerances?), though the immediacy of digital may have magnified the issue, too.
