View Full Version : Back from Germany: Some Photos
I will insert some photos gradually as I go through the nine rolls of film that I completed in Germany a week ago. I had with me a Leica M6 with three lenses (CV 25mm/4, Canon 50mm/1.2, Elmar 90mm/4) for B&W and the Contax T2 for color film.
This is my old friend Josef. We met up in Frankfurt, from where he took us to Mittelsbach and then Heidelsberg for a day trip. I used the Canon 50mm/1.2 in this nice brewery in Mittelsbach,

This is my friend Kuiyuan, inspecting the menu. Again, I used the Canon.

This is a photo taken in Marburg where we met up with the RFF member Kent who took us on a day tour ofMarburg. Kent invited us to some great Capucino at his favorit Cafe'. Here is Kent:

Marburg has an old castle (Schloss) at the top of a hill, and Kent somehow coaxed us into walking up to it. There was also a well-known old church in Marburg. Here are a few photos:
This is Kent trying to attach the "tripod" to the door for a timed photo of us in the cafe'.

I used the Canon 50mm/1.2 here.
Thanks, Raid, for posting these shots. Looking forward to seeing more of them. I like Josef's expression in that last one. Reminds me of Homer Simpson thinking, "mmmmmmm, beer......"

Thanks for sharing Raid. Keep them coming!
Randy: Thank you. I will post a few more. Josef is newly married, and he was looking at his wife.
This is a photo I took while waiting for the train (tram) close to the Rathaus in Bielefeld.

This photo was taken with the cv 25mm/4. All B&W photos are either Kodak or Ilford.

So Raid, if you had to redo this trip to Germany, would you take the same gear, or would you modify your choice?
This one was most likely taken in Bielefeld before we took the streetcar.

Frank: My selection turned out ot be near perfect. The wide angle perspective of the CV 25mm/4 lens was needed and I wouldhave needed the extra coverage had I taken instead the 28mm lens [which was my initial top choice]. The Canon 50/1.2 was also great for the indoor photos. The Elmar 90/4was good to have along for occasional close-ups. It is small and light and does not add much to the total weight. A tele with large aperture would be too heavy, I thought about this option but decided otherwise.
... no regrets. Just memories.

Yea what Frank said! And what film did you shoot if I may ask? Pictures look great Raid!
This was a "funny" sign in a window of a restaurant. It said something to the effect that while the partner was in jail, he/she was on drugs.

Chris,
Thanks. I used the Kodak UC400 color and Ilford XP2 plus Kodak c_41 film. I may have had a couple of Reala rolls too.

At the brewery ... they had excellent salads:-)

This place was close where Kent works. He arranged it so that we could park there (in Marburg).

Germany [old] houses are cool.

This may have been taken in Marburg (and not as I thought in Mittelsbach, which is locate between Franfurt and Heidelsberg.)

This is the old church in Marburg. The CV caused distortion by having me shoot upwards. Still, I rather get a shot than none.

the indoor shots with the 50/1.2 are very luminous, nice, i like them.
Also the half-timbered houses. They are cool:)
Some places have them painted in wild colours too. Orange walls, black wooden planks...such.(Although i have seen tht only in Denmark.)

Pherdinand: I like the results with the UC400 Kodak. The colors come out very nice looking. I got the film 50% at CVS after reading about the sale before my trip.

Thanks, Barrett. Yes, I had a great time ... rain or shine.

Here are some photos from one color roll of Kodak UC400 in a Contax T2. Ionce posted some photos taken with the UC,and people commented that the blue tint was looking unnatural. Then someone said that this film was not meant for outdoors photos. I like it here.

Overall, the T2 was problem free and very easy to use. It made a great back-up camera that also was used for color snapshots.
Great photos that make a fantastic documentary of your trip.
It was great to meet you and I'm sorry that I made you walk up "castle hill". ;)
But only because of that you got some of the shots.
BTW, the "Gartenlaube" really is in Marburg - very nice little restaurant.
Here are some more shots (also some by me): http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=527350 (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=527350#post527350)
Kent
Hallo Kent,
I will take a look at your photos. It was a nice meeting!
Without your encouragements, I may have not walked up to the Schloss.
