Here are a few shots from my new Holga. I guess the Holga is a point & shoot?

Every picture a small miracle - and a remarkable achievement, Brad: the forest shots are beautiful!

How did you get on with yours, Max?

All the best, Ian

The shot #5 (moss covered tree trunk) is awesome.

Where did you get the film developed?

It's a 120 film, correct? Here in Dallas, TX area, only one lab (BWC) will develop 120 films now. Sad, ain't it?

I did some nice shots with it Ian, and currently I lended it to a friend of mine who wanted to try taking photos with a Holga, so it's being used intensely ;)

Some of my shots follow, nothing fantastic from me though :)

Thanks for the comments. Yes it is 120 film. I get it processed at H&H Color Lab.

It tis sad... but there's a solution to it. Maybe...

You see, most of the labs have 120 developing capabilities, but they just dont utilize them... If all you are looking for is developing the film, (not prints) then ask around. get yourself aquainted with some of the ppl working at the photolabs, and you should be able to find who will and wont actually process 120.

I work at our local lab, and although we dont do 120 there, we have the capabilities, and therefore, for those who need it, and are kind ppl (you wouldnt believe how many photographically inclined people aren't kind!!!) they know when I work, and swing by then in order to get their 120 developed.

keep in mind, though... that not everyone knows how to do it (even though its really easy) and then there are even more people (like my boss) who know how, and just dont want to or dont care to do it for the customers. So find some place that can (easy) and someone who will (not so easy) and then you'll be set!

Nice color, well composed and exposed. Too bad you didn't have a camera with you. :D

All great shots. I didn't know a Holga could do that.

Great point. I've struggled with this. I have taken the same shot with a REAL CAMERA at times.

Holgas ROCK!
And so do your photographs.
I like the b&w landscape the best.
I am an avid Holg aphotographer, I have four of them right now.
Holgas are the serendipity of photography!!

I like the Holga vision, but sometimes I go mad after my Lensbaby.
And the most I like is to use the lens on my film and digital mounts

Thanks Brian,
I checked out your site. Real nice. What's your favorite film for the Holga?
How big of print have you printed from your Holgas?

I *love* the Holga. I don't use it anymore, but here are some of my shots from several years ago:

I have recently done some stuff on 16x20 paper. The image itself was something like 9x15, it was a diptych of two adjacent frames.
Check my blog from my site to see it.

I like three films for my Holgas..
Tri-X(ROCKS!!)
Kodak Portra 400 VC
and Fujichrome 100 Provia

Thanks for checking my site out!

Some amazing pics in this thread! My holga (and lomo) have been gathering dust while I'm all about my bessas, but I'll have to break it out one of these days.

Here's an older shot:

Hi Brad, it's Kodak Portra 400VC.

I have thought about trying slide film in my Holga, but with the near total lack of control over exposure I have been afraid to.

I love Holga! Check out my latest experiment with it:

http://www.markuspuustinen.com/galleriat/07/04/sircus_europa/

I shot a whole roll without frame limits and scanned it in full length. I was trying to achieve a one long visual representation rather than sequence of images.

well since everyone is outing themselves as holga users, i will do so too

by the way holga is no point and shoot. Its a fully manual, scale focus camera ;)

As I mentioned, I shoot slide film with my Holgas.
As far as I am concerned, considering the camera I am using, I get "perfect" exposures.
I would suggest using a 100 ASA film and shooting with "optimum" light at f/11, the sunny icon.
Brian

That's pretty cool. I'd love to see it in print.

So did you only half-wind between frames?

When you slide the "f stop" thingie back and forth, it doesn't actually change the aperture. At least, it doesn't on mine. You can see that it wants to, but something about the construction is off. This is also noted in, I believe, the Camerapedia entry on Holgas. Which I kinda like because then I'm REALLY off the hook when it comes to getting exposure right.

Provia 100, here we come!

I have exactly the same with mine and even when i do switch both exposures are the same. I find 100 too slow and prefer 400. Even this can under expose on mine. However it's still going strong after 8 years despite being kept in a hot humid environment. It's never let me down once.

More reliable than an R-D1 and 1/100 of the price ;-)

Simon, it's AMAZING!!

Yes I think Simon is the living proof that the quality of the camera has no impact whatsoever on the quality of the picture, the photographer is what it counts!

(Damn can't blame my tools anymore now)
