How do you guys scan your half-frame negs? I'm using an Epson 4490, with the software that comes with it. It automatically pairs up two images at a time. I'm wondering if there's any way I can control this (e.g. pair up an image with the one on its left or right), or scan the entire strip of frames as one image.

Are you using the professional setting (i.e. non-simplified controls)? Sorry, I'm not in front of the computer that's hooked up to the Epson, so I don't recall the exact wording of the settings.

On the preview drop-down there's the option to view as thumbnails or the full scanner bed. Select the full scanner bed setting and do a preview scan. You can then use the crosshairs to select the section that you wish to scan.

I usually scan the entire strip of negatives, then cut them up into either individual frames or else two frames with the dividing line between them.

I just tried it, works like a charm! Thanks a bunch! I would never have figured that out on my own, I guess I'm more technologically-challenged than I thought.:o

I use both "home" and "professional" mode, I noticed that the home mode seems to have more effective ICE for scratch/dust removal (no idea why), so I use it for that. However, sometimes it takes unreasonably long to scan and seems to like deciding on its own to suddenly make outrageously large file sizes once in a while (I always scan at 1200 dpi). It also occasionally refuses to preview/scan at original size and insists on cropping my images to 4x6, so on those occasions, I shift to professional mode.
