Found an M3 locally and I'm wondering your thoughts. It's near mint, the only scratch I can find are rub marks on the top plate from a meter on the hot shoe. Shutter sounds good at low and high speeds. It's a double stroke.
Is it worth $1000?

is that with a lens?
Maybe, if recently CLA'd by a reputable service person, and if you get some kind of warranty and a return privilege. Otherwise, you're basically in the same position as if you bought it from eBay.

No lens (no box or papers either).
Thanks

Frank, thanks for the link. He said it should be $1200, but that's with a collapsible f2 Summicron. Oh boy now I'm confused.
Tom
A double stroke M3 without a recent CLA should sell for $450- 550. I think anyway.

Ok so I think it's safe to conclude the answer is "No"
Sounds to me like closer to $800-850 is right
I'll pass on it then, thanks guys!
Being my first post I'd like to introduce myself before replying to the topic.
I'm an amateur photographer and (unfortunately for my wallet) camera collector from Italy.
I'm involved in Leica and Nikon - rangefinders and SLR - mostly B/W in available light. People and Urban landscapes are my favourite things.
Well now on the reply: I would surely pass a rubbed DS M3 for 1000 US$: it's worth much less for me: i'd consider it at about 400-500 US$. With some luck and research you can find a good sample of late single stroke for one grand.

Just weighing in: A recently CLA'd M3DS in EX+ condition would fetch $750~$900 on Ebay, depending on the finder and how noticeable those rub marks are. M3's have sold on this forum for less. A CLA will run $150 at Essex; they have done great work on mine.

i think a realistic price, considering it had been cla'd would be around 750 - 900 bucks american.
where do you see a m3 for 400 - 600 bucks in less than ugly condition?
