Hi All,
I was wondering what are the grips available for the M series Leica? How many, what types - photos would be nice. User Feedback would be great too.

I've used the original angular GMP grip; fits & works well & is particualrly handy for larger hands & for quickly grabbing a camera from a bag. Also helps to balance the weight of the body against any large-ish lens like the 90/2. I sold mine cos I prefer a wrist strap or Lutz Konnerman's Sling.

PS on evilbay you may also find a nice looking hardwood grip from a seller in China- looks v elegant but of course I have no idea about its utility.

I have the Leica grip. I just bought it a month ago and so far I'm pretty neutral about it. Sometimes I use it and sometimes I don't. It makes the camera a little easier to hold but it also makes the camera a little larger.

Happy Rapid Grip user. It is a substantial piece of equipment, but makes carrying an M in hand much easier.

What rover said. Once I saw his I had to have a Rapidgrip. They are excellent.

Another vote for TOM A's rapidgrip. I topped it with a Sling and there is no chance you drop your camera ever. I admit putting it back into the bag and getting the fingers out of the sling sometimes is a little tricky but overall I love this combination. The rapidgrip provides much better grip than the orig. Leica grip IMHO.

Rather than using a grip I use Luigi's half case with built in grip (note that, since I haven't used it, I'm not referring to the half case that's sized to fit an M camera with Leica's grip added). Works great for me.

I tried the GMP grip and dumped it. I found the shiny metal too slippery, and the shape was uncomfortable and hard to hang on to. Not enough gripping surface. I do have a couple of the Leica grips, and I like them. Not too large, and easy to grip--which is the whole point. I can use it to hold the camera at hip level, vertically, for candid shots.

I will try out one of Tom's Rapidgrips when I get around to picking one up.

I have since recovered it with Levant Black from Camera Leather. I also have the MP-Winder as shown. I am ordering another grip for my M6 as well. It also centers the tripod screw.

that's the new mgrip...looks very nice.

i use the older angular m grips and love them.
easy to grab and they never slip despite being metal and smooth.
couple a good grip with a comfortable wrist strap and you're laughin'!!

Another vote for the PhotoEquip version - excellent with rubber insert - the base unscrews to store several spare batteries. I also use Lutz Konnerman's Slings.

I like the Leica grip well enough, they are on every body but the M5, and I'm working on trying to make a grip for that. These arthritic hands can't hold a camera for long without a grip. I very much like the shape of the Contax G and the XPAN- so am leaning toward that shape grip for the M5. Once it gets warm enough to get back into the shop that is one of my projects.

i bought a leica m grip used from adorama for $70.00 and have been very happy with it . i have fairly large hands and it's nice to have a little something extra to hold on to . some of the other grips looked to large to me .

I have the official Leica M grip that I used a lot when I didn't use a neck/sholder strap. But now that I have my camera strapped with a Domke Gripper, I hardly use the grip anymore.

Maybe I'll attach it again if I use a handstrap someday.

Something to consider... A centered tripod mount is nice if you ever use a pod. Not all the grips have this.

I have one of the Chinese hardwood grips.
The craftmanship is top notch.

I have monster sized hands so it helps give my fingers something to wrap around.

I have one of these in black that I want to sell. I bought and had it on my camera for 5 minutes and then put it away because it just felt wrong. Not uncomfortable. But just wrong.

If anyone is interested in buying it drop me a line, I take paypal. It's brand new.

They come up on the auction site every now and then. I think I bought it from a seller called "www.digifan.cn". I was just scrolling through my feedback, but it was a while back so I'm not 100% sure if that was the one.
