I saw this lens on eBay, and thougt it looked interesting. LTM, all black lens with a black finder, I assume that it is a late issue 105/2.5.

Are we talking big bucks here? Just curious.

The 2.5/10.5cm is always black, either in Nikon or Leica mount. I just sold mine. Launched around 1955 or 1956, preferred to the 2/8.5cm in the late 1950's by the market, but much more weight and sloow focussing thread. Optically the same like the much cheaper F-mount lens (until 1971).
Nice unusual finder

a nice lens,these were always chrome and black, a legendary lens that lives up to the hype.
the 105/2.5 is a bit heavy, but it suits a Canon 7, less so a Leica III.
these bring in good money , so check the Kevincamera website to get an idea of the current shop price.
the auction price should go for lower than what a specialist shop sells for.

this lens was first marketed in Dec. 1953 and a total of 22,000 were made in LTM and S mount.

Hood, cap, finder, this is a nice package, that may command a little bit of a premium price.

Most of the Nikkor lenses have a "long" focus throw. It's inherent in the Nikon/Contax focus mount, where the focus travel of any lens is, by design, about 270 dregrees (three quarters of a full turn) from 3 feet to infinity. With RF coupling, this makes for very precise focus, which is not a bad thing.

These lenses weigh about 19 ounces ... 550 grams. Heavy brass and thick optical elements.

An advantage is that the mass makes it easy to handhold at show shutter speeds. I can shoot mine at 1/30 without too much difficulty.

The 10.5cm brite-line finder is worth as much as the lens!!
I estimate around $500 for the package.

I think you are low because of the finder. The Nikon Brightline finder for 105 is a hens tooth (IMHO). My guess is $575.

This has become my standard telephoto lens on both my M6 and S2 cameras (different lenses). She is large, but a great lens. She also takes 52mm filters, which for an old Nikon SLR-Geek like myself is very handy (read I have lots of them). Also, if you want to switch to a newer lens cap, they are easy to find.

Is that $575 total or the finder only?
I know there are dealers out there that ask $575 for the finder alone but thats another story.

Dante is speculating... ALL late 10.5s have black tripod mounts but not many late LTM versions exists.Also note that the Nikon or Contax version did NOT have a tripod mount.

Yes, I think the tripod mounts were for LTM lenses only.

Weirdly, the 13.5cm Nikkor lenses weigh a lot less, but they almost all have tripod mounts.

I agree, the brightline finder is rarer than the lens (perhaps not that particular variant of the lens, but the 10.5cm/2.5 in general in LTM), plus it's in better condition than what normally is offered on eBay & comes w/the cases, etc. Could go for $600+ total.

I also agree w/the consensus that it's a fine, albeit hefty, lens. I have it in Nikon RF & Contax mount.

I stopped my bid at $650. Had I won the auction, I would have done a comparison of my Canon 100/2 and the 105 Nikkor. Nice lens though, I have one in Contax mount. Having used both the 105/2.5 and 85/2 Nikkor, I much prefer the 85- a lot smaller and a few ounces lighter.
