View Full Version : Why doesn't anyone say eBay?

I've noticed that everyone seems to change the name of eBay slightly in their posts. Is there a reason for this? Just curious.

Also, what are some of the more interesting variations you're heard.

I always say Ebay, otherwise I will get very confused and set Bookmarks to these other sites.

EB*y with a wildcard would kill me, better say EB?y and keep it to one character in the middle...

I say ebay too in my posts. I believe on Photo.net they have a filter that will kick out your reply if you type the string ebay. I know it does if you type it in a classified add. Kinda silly I think, we all are addicted to the place, so state it proudly.

I guess some think it's cute to throw in a lighthearted (or serious) pejorative with a pun.

I noticed that noone seemed to say it and wasn't sure what the reason was - and if PN does have such a filter, that may well explain it. Without really thinking about it much I'd started saying "the bay" so perhaps I just need to start being explicit again.

Interesting how language mutates in even a short time.

I say eBoy because of the filters that USED to be in place nearly everywhere - now that most of them are not in place anymore, it has just become a habit. Weird, huh?

I can say eBoy. There. eBoy. I mean eBoy. Ah, crud.

Clevername, you've hurt my feelings! I always say ebay and if you haven't noticed it means you don't read my posts! That hurts! :(

Actually, Bill, I bought something last night and it's going to have to do for now....... I'm officially broke until at least next week! But, a MINT Pentacon Six TL body with WL finder (no lens) for under a C-note, shipping included, I just couldn't let pass.

I'm looking forward to using a nice 6x6 SLR. :)

i sometimes think i say ebay in my sleep.
i believe i may be addicted to ebay.
i can't stop buying things on ebay.
last nite, i bought another 10 soft releases on ebay.
now i have them for every camera i have & also for every finger.

At first I also thought it was a no-no after seeing some threads, but in the end I found funny to throw in different names and always enjoy what people comes up with :)
