Megaperls & bulk Super Presto

On Tues., by chance I a]had time to kill b]checked the Megaperls website. There at the bottom of the film section was Super Presto (Neopan 1600), bulk rolls. I ordered 2 (for me, that’s a lot of film - especially at ISO 1600). Yesterday, I realised I should give RFF a heads up, but thought to check the site again. No bulk Super Presto. Also got order confirmation from Dirk, & I replied, thanking him. I also commented that it was too bad that Fuji is going to discontinue bulk rolls, but that at least Fuji seems more interested in producing film than that yellow company.

His response to that was, “it is a very good film and you were lucky to get some. As soon as I have some it is gone. It is also sold out all over Tokyo, everyone is stocking up. A real shame.”

He also said, “Agree with your take on Fuji vs. Kodak, although it may be partly idealistic thinking on our part. While my site is essentially commercial, I would also like to think of it as a contribution to photographic culture, to give people more choices when creating images.”

Megaperls deserves the support of anyone who uses film.

yes, ordered super presto from there before, great service. maybe when fuji sees that everyone in tokyo and abroad is mourning disapearance of the bulk roll they might bring it back!

Yes, Dirk is an excellent bloke, and he is a member here too! :) Glad to hear more NP1600 has appeared in the store. I have a fair amount here and I may yet stock up a bit more. Thanks for posting!

Agree Dirk's enterprise should be supported by this forum. I initially ordered a roll of the 400, and the 1600, with the fast shipping. Had it in less than a week. I reordered two more 1600 rolls with the slow shipping, and had it within a couple of weeks.

I used to order the 400 from B&H, but they never carried the 1600. Maybe Fuji will get the message.

thanks for the kind comments and references. I have never been quoted like that before, a bit embarrassed actually :o

I have no news for you regarding 1600 rolls, unfortunately. I have been doing a lot of literal running around town in the past few weeks, jumping on rolls where I could find them.

My hopes for more are fading. I was expecting the last production run to be in March and then another few months of supply until it dries up. That does not seem to be the case.

On the plus side, I have around 70 100ft/30.5m rolls of Neopan 400 ("Presto") stocked, all dated 9-2008 or so. A fantastic all-round performer and my personal choice (using a rangefinder, naturally). I use it in Xtol, and lately, Rodinal. I like it better than Acros.

Fuji Neopan 400 Presto is my favorite too. At Yodobashi (Sapporo) they had a new batch of 100ft rolls recently. I should go and buy ....

Megaperls, I found 100ft rolls of Super Presto (Neopan 1600) at Yodobashi (Shinjuku Nishi-guchi). They said they have dozens of rolls.

I'm bumping this in case anyone still wants to order. Dirk sent me an email the other day that my order for bulk has been fulfilled and is on it's way. However I just visited his web site and Super Presto is still on the page so it looks like he has a few rolls of bulk left. This would be a last chance to buy NP1600 in bulk...

Thanks Peter. I was hesitating as I wanted some SS and 1600 but only the SS was available. Just ordered 3 of the 1600, 2 of the SS, and for the heck of it 3 of the 400 too! Cannot go wrong with ANY of these three. I only wish he had some Acros in bulk available....

Hello - thanks for keeping an eye on things.

I have around 15 x 1600 left, plenty of 400 and a single SS and Acros. 10 more of each of the latter two are on their way.

1600 is the hardest to get right now, also because I cannot order it myself and have to carry it home by hand, so don't think I am just sitting here watching the orders roll in. ;)

I have generally little demand for Acros and SS, so I was not planning to stock up that much, given that the films expire around August 2008 I don't want to end up with too much unsold stock. Let me know if you want them and in what quantities and I will try to arrange.
