View Full Version : P&S with 50 mm lens?
Does such a thing exist? I have a Minolta TC-1 with a 28mm lens, and in the post a Yashica T5 with a 35mm lens, Now if I only could find a pocketable P&S with a 50mm lens I would be really happy, but I seem unable to find one.
Any help out there?
Thanks

Umm Contax G1 with a 45mm/2 Planar? Coat pocket anyway.. Sort of heavy though..
Good question.. Leitz CL with 50/2.5 CV skopar is really small, but far cry from point and shoot.
Yes I thought of the CL with a collapsible 50, and I may end up getting that combo if I can't find a proper compact P&S of that focal lenght.

Contax Tvs - the lens is 28-56 but it's collapsible... and aperture priority...

If I had the money I'd get this one... but for me it's pretty expensive for a P&S :(

The problem is that usually zoom compact have miserable maximum aperture at longer focal lenghts, do you know what is the maximum aperture at 50mm?
Thanks

the lens is 28-56 f/3.5-6.5 so yes, it is pretty slow... but considering it's a zoom and that you only need one camera and you have 28-35-40-50-56 it's not bad... most average P&S are like 38-80 f/4.5-9... :(

IIIC or F and collaspible 3.5 Elmar or Summitar. No reason you can not set it up like a P&S.
Is it smaller a iiif with a collapsible elmar, or a CL with a collapsible elmar, and how they compare to a contax T3 in size?

Can the elmar safely clear the CL meter arm? To me the IIf shape can fit a pocket better than the CL, but maybe it's heavier. Sadly I have no T3 to compare.

Is 40mm good enough for you? Or do you really require the extra 10mm in focal length?

A 35mm folder such as the early Kodak Retina is compact as a P&S, but heavier.
You have to guesstimate exposure, but you get a wonderful Schneider 50/2.

Just have a look at my avatar. The Industar 22 (elmar copy) collapses safely (95% collapsed) on both CL's I owned, stopped by a metal frame inside from hitting the shutter.
