Hey guys, it's got a little expensive for me, once I add shipping and repairs. But maybe this is a bargain in the making?

Steve, a Canon is just...well, a Canon. THIS (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15234&item=3872709541&rd=1) is what you want!

Alright Joe and Oscar, put down those baseball bats! :D

Seriously, don't underestimate the cost to repair that camera. It may cost you more than $300.

Essex charges a flat-rate $130 for the Canon V series. Add $8 return postage in the US and about $8 to get it there. If it goes for under $125, its a bargain. For ~250, you get a user condition but functional/CLA'd camera. But, buy it to use it. Because of the cosmetics, you will not recoupe your expense. I have a 9/10 Cosmetic condition Vt with a perfect finder that will be making the trip to Essex: Shutter is erratic below 1/125.
