@zentralverschluss - first of all nothing wrong with your english. so i look forward to more of your postings here!
'transformers' was originally a tv show and finally they completed the cycle with a movie last year. the basic premise is the battle between two groups -- good vs bad -- autobots vs decepticons.
these robots are actually familiar things like trucks, planes, cars and "transform" into a big hulking robot when in battle.
couple of links that might help you visualise this:

and a video clip from the movie showing the robots "transforming":

coming back to my first remark: i half expect your camera to transform into a lean, mean, fighting robot. its a thing of beauty...a wunderkamera!

Zentralverschluss,
Nice work. That is a complicated project you did on your Kiev. The paint looks very professional. I am sure that is the only Kiev on the planet with that paint scheme. Keep up the good work!

Hello "infrequent"
thanks for watching my funny Kiev! Because of my poor school-English (preventing me from posting more on this wonderful forum...), I don´t understand, what the term "out of transformers" means. Maybe you think, the pictures are faked .
This camera is real:angel: and was a hell of a work, especially the paint-job. It is completely overhauled, runs very smooth and accurate in all shutter-speeds, meter works, perfect rangefinder... Three Cheers to Kiev Survival Site!
Leatherette is from Micro-Tools, lens from Zeiss, lacquers from Audi, Volkswagen and GM - nothing from Adobe.
Many Greetings to the whole community

As to actual photos from it, no chance yet. It has no take-up spool, but I've also bought one of these from eBay... and am still waiting on its delivery. :)
Oh, and its shutter fires like a dream, unlike the Leica Standard which is in need of a service now.

How is the camera attached to the halfcase? (I am also considering making some cases by myself or with the help of my shoemaker)

Ron: there is a screw as with similar cases. I had some of these screws just laying around... There is a 3/8-1/4 adapter in the camera and 1/4 screw.

Welcome shead !
That is a nice couple - the ultimate FSU LTM cameras IMO. The Z-3C is much better (quality of finish) than the later 4's, and the F-2 is the simplest smallest (with the exception of Barnack clones) and most reliable of them all. Congratulations.
PS: and I just love those tabbed FSU lenses...

Here are a couple of shots of my 1976 Zorki-4K and one of my Zenit EM. I know the EM is not an RF camera but i'm gonna include it here anyway as i know that there are people who would be interested to see it regardless.
The Zorki-4K was recently recovered by myself with a kit from Aki-Asahi. The meter on the top is the Kopil CDs meter. I haven't had the chance to get out and shoot with the Z4 and meter but from what I've seen of the meter is seem relatively accurate.

I like the Fed 2 better. The Zorki 4's viewfinder is brighter but having 1:1 magnification makes it hard to see the edges of the viewfinder.

Nice pair!
That's the same pair of FSUs I use. I like the Zorki's VF much more, because it is brighter and has a ~40mm coverage so I typically put my J12 on the Zorki without an accessory VF (which I don't have anyway).
However the FED2 just feels more solid so my J8 with the same "heavystar" vented hood is on the FED2 and is my preferred camera for shooting outside on nice sunny days. The FED2 is what I travel with as a backup for when my DSLR messes up for some reason.

Three of my russian family: a Zorki 1e from 1955, a Kiev 4a from 1970 and a FED 5v from 1977. There is a hard falloff in design-quality, elegance and handling from the old to the young. The optical quality contest of these three is won by the Industar 61L/D though it has the worst mechanical quality.

If you would like to match the rendering of the I-61LD in Kiev mount, there were some NOS Helios 103's on ebay recently, very cheap, much sharper than the J-8.
No, no, no, you can't get no satisfaction with a H-103.

Pixtu, I thought first I could live with this infinity lock, but it´s evil! (I even filed off the the locking pin on my Elmar some years ago!). I´m very pleased with the performance of the Jupiter-8 (I owned a black one for my Zorki 15 years ago). The I-61 is sometimes too sharp! The greatest lens of the kit you sent me is the Jupiter-12. I really love the sharpness, the bokeh and the complete lack of distortion!

I've found the same issue with the I-61L/D: great optics module. It screws into the Kiev J-8 mount, and I use it on my Nikon and Contax. It will work on your Kiev once you make the mod.

I finished the repairs on my Fed NKVD, which I got 2 day's ago, replaced the old curtains with new ones. I cleaned and brushed almost every moving part before lubricating them, which was really worth the time. It works smoother than almost any other camera I have.
Can't wait to shoot a roll of film with it. :D
Since selling my Zorki 4k last year, I've very much regretted it (it was my first rangefinder). I recently won a 1959 Zorki 4 on eBay and got lucky. Judging from the 4k, this Zorki 4 has almost certainly been CLA'd. It's very smooth and the shutter is almost as quiet as the Leica III and IIIc I used to have. It came with a J8, Industar 61LD, and Industar 26M.

This is my street shooting kit, consisting of some very low-tech FSU Rangefinders.
(left)
1963 FED-3a with Industar-26 50/2.0 and metal vented lens hood
Kopil CDs Meter
Handcrafted Gordy Strap
(right)
1976 KMZ Zorki-4K with Jupiter 8 50/2.0
Leather kit from Aki-Asahi
KMZ Universal Viewfinder
(Lens Center)
Jupiter 12 35/2.0
(Lens Right)
Jupiter 11 135/4.0
This is a relatively low-budget setup that cost me around 300 UK Pounds in total. 100 pounds for the FED-3a and a full CLA from Fedka.com, 160 pounds for the Lenses and Meter. I was lucky with the Zorki-4K as it was gifted to me by an old man who owned and cherished this one from new.
Despite its age and relative crudeness of operation when compared to more modern kit it produces some stunning shots when operated correctly. Buit all you RFF'ers knew that anyway :)

bought the Zorky on ebay last christmas, was in very good conditions but needed a cla I had lot of fun doing (and thanks to whoever posted in the 4k cla thread!). It came with the Industar, got the Jupiter too because I hate flash. I'd like to buy a wide lens, but the Orion is so expensive I'm thinking about an Heliar... well, no money for both now, anyway :-(
The Lomo Smena is obviously not an RF but it's beacuse of it I've started to like mechanical cameras.. Bought when I was 13, the shutter wasn't working, so I dismantled it to try to repair, and failed... last summer I've found it and finally made it work, and I'm surprised from it's results! Also, this could be a world record: 16 years to repair a shutter ;-)
I've noticed right now I left the self-timer loaded! That's because my cat refused to pose with me yesterday, after I've composed the shot...

The serial number is 416003 so think I have it classified correctly.
I unintentionally loaded 400 Tmax instead of easier-to-find-locally-practice film and don't think it's loaded correctly; doesn't seem to be advancing film. (This older 'technology' is new to me.) ;) <kicking myself> Does anyone have tips on how to check w/o exposing.

Nice FED2 darlene!
First time loading film in this russian device was a problem for me, too.
If you are unsure about the film-advance try to rewind the film until you feel the resistance in the rewind-knob getting lower.
Then take out the film, fix the end to the right take-up-spool and
then pull the film out of the cartridge to the left where you
finally place it. So you can see if it is firmly fixed and you get
a plain film position before closing the back.
After about three exposures the left knob should show rotation while advancing.

Thank you so much for the reply, Axel. (and for complimenting my camera) =)
I downloaded a FED-2 manual before I tried to load the film but it's for for a different type. The illustration implies that there is some type of cylinder that you load the film into first but my did not come with anything like that.
I'll try your advice and cross my fingers. :)

It sounds as if you may not have gotten the takeup spool with the camera. These generally slide off a little knub of a post on the takeup side of the camera body. Check elsewhere on the forum in the archives, I believe people have explained how to construct a replacement takeup spool out of the contents of a spent 35mm canister.
Best Luck,

Blake, thank you for the info. I really appreciate it and will look through the archives. I was not sure if mine was missing that or if it did need one because it's a different model of FED-2.
I hope to get this solved and be able to report back with photos to post. :)

Thank you all for the help and info! I am so happy because I finally got the film loaded in my FED-2!
Blake -- I do have the take-up spool but the illustrations in the manual are a little confusing to me. :o The take-up spool looked thicker.
Now...I don't see the knob/dial or whatever to specify the type of film. The top of the FED-2 in the manual is different than mine. I ran out of play time this weekend.
dcampbell,
Welcome to the greatest issue for me with owning an FSU camera....the film take-up. I've not owned a Fed, but I do have a Zorki and two Kievs. The Zorki has a fixed take-up spool (like a "modern" 35mm camera") and wouldn't be a problem for me except for the shutter has a pinhole in it. The take-up release is a little funky; but after 2 rolls of film I think I know what to do now.
The Kievs on the other hand....wonderful cameras, except for that damned non-fixed film take up spool (aka the removable one). For this I have tried taping the film leader to the spool, the take up cartridges you mentioned earlier and all I have met is total frustration with the film transport of these otherwise wonderful cameras. I've lost ENTIRELY too many potential photos in these cameras due to untrustworthy film transports. Follow instructions regarding this issue to the letter and you might lessen the problems (again my ignorance of FEDs comes to light because I don't know how the film counter works either). Please ask if you have other questions, but this is what I know to say so far. Good luck.
(and yes, I do have a black Kiev posted in this thread about 4 or 5 pages back- although it could be more, I don't know anymore)

Thanks so much for the info. I appreciate every piece of information than anyone has to offer. The take-up spool in my FED-2 is removable and has a little 'clip' thing to slide the film under. I had to align the film with the spool a couple times until enough was wound around the spool to stay tight. Maybe there's a better way. Now the challenge will be to get the film OUT of the camera. ;) I haven't taken photos with it because I haven't figured out how to set the type of film. :o

OMG! It's beautiful! I wonder what today's cameras will look like in 50 years.
Your camera looks like mine! The serial number begins with 406. Google'd and found a site that leads me to believe that it is a FED-2 Type B4. I have no idea how meaningful that info is useful but it sounds cool to me. :D
So, please, please, can you tell me what dial or know I should use to set the film type or if it matters? :D
Thanks again!

If you have a film reminder of some kind on the camera by all means use it. But since the camera has no meter you'll either have to use a hand-held meter or use those "guesstimate" charts that sometimes are packed with film (i.e., the "sunny 16 rule," etc.) to set the exposures. I've been using manual cameras for the better part of 35 years and I've never had much success with those charts, though, which is why I have a trusty hand-held Gossen Luna Pro.
Thanks! You've helped a lot. I've been waiting to use the FED because I thought that the camera needed to be told what kind of film. :o

I need a lot more experience and will get to practice with it tonight at a fireworks over the bay event. Hopefully some will be worth saving. I'm using cheaper film until I know what I'm doing. :)

I am the proud owner of two wartime FED-S cameras, both with their original 50mm f2.0 lenses. In addition, I have bought two 100mm f6.3 (uncoupled) telelenses for FED, and two Canon viewfinders to use them, since the FED finders are near impossible to find.
The unengraved camera and lens have been serviced by Yuri at Fedka.com, and was brought into Leica specs. It allows me to use the lens on the M8 and other Leicas. The other camera is in near mint condition and fully original.
Here is what my kit looks like:

In the back is the 1947 book from John Steinbeck on Russia, with pictures by Robert Capa.
I'm not complete yet, I'm missing two old-logo rear caps, two old-logo front caps, and leather or canvas-covered lens cases with old logos. Anyone care to help me out?

Great looking kit. Yuri has worked on some of my FSU kit and does a brilliant job . the Jupiter 3 he serviced is still my favourite lens . I would guess you have a very pretty and very useable set of cameras and lenses there. .. Have fun I'm sure it won't be long before you seek a lens a bit wider but thats all part of fun - both the seeking and finding

Here's mine. It's an old FED-1948-Zorki. It took a little work to get running properly, but it's a wonderful camera now. I dislike the viewfinder, so I ordered a Leica VIHOO finder to mount on it.
I ran the first roll of film though it last week, and the results were very good (even though I forgot to adjust the rangefinder first). I've got a second roll in it now, and I'm looking forward to the results.
On my table is a second FED-1948-Zorki that I'm working on. I got the shutter replaced in it, but the intermediate gear is stripped and must be replaced before I can use it. I am also on the hunt for a lens of the correct vintage to mount on it.

Paul,
FED 2 is considered more reliable, less to go wrong (no slow speeds). The 2b is likely to have a dim VF but the contrast is good (and baselength is longer) - ideal for outdoors and a hindrance for indoors. The Zorki has a much bigger, brighter VF that's near 1:1 (less contrasty though) but not quite as accurate for framing. It also has slow-speeds and a proper flash-sync that works on all speeds, 1/30th and slower. Take your pick! Handling is probably slightly better on the FED, it's a touch lower and a fraction wider.

'T'was worth it, I think ...
I guess I should see if I can paint in the logo without making a mess. Given the size of the letters, I suspect it will have to be real liquid paint instead of the paint stick I use for filling in lens engravings. Of course it would have been a lot smarter if I had done that while I had the front plate off, but if I were smart, I probably wouldn't be putting so much time into clunky old cameras..
About paint: I notice that some of the really old FEDs seem not to have paint in the engravings on the shutter speed dial or on the lens. I have a FED-S with a couple contemporaty lenses, and there is no paint anywhere. It makes it pretty hard to see the focus and aperture rings. Was there some reason why the engravings were not filled?
Cheers,
Dez
An interesting thing I noticed when working with this camera is that some of the things done in the earlier all-Ukrainian Kievs were very well done indeed. One of the ways of identifying German parts in the very early Kievs is that the engraving on the shutter speed dial, and particularly on the rewind knob, is heavier and coarser-looking than on the Russian parts. Also the quality of the chrome on the early (say up to 1955) Kievs is a lot BETTER than that of the prewar Contaxes. I understand that Contaxes of that era plated chrome directly onto the brass rather than having a nickel priming layer, and as a result there are lots of late-30's Contaxes with spotty chrome. I have a few of these, and none of them has chrome of the quality of my Kiev 2's.
Cheers,
Dez

Don't know if there's a reason for it but my NKVD is the same, no paint in the markings. It may be just that it's so old and the original paint was poor, so there's none left now?

Nice camera, the Zorki 6 is very underrated IMO. Well done on re-lubing the lens, in my experience I-26 and I-61 lenses always need it! You find it's a sharp and contrasty lens, enjoy. A Jupiter 8 always looks good on the Zorki 6 too...and works well.

Here's my latest miscreation! This was looking a bit tatty so I decided that after the mechanical work it's had it deserved to look prettier too. I removed the vulcanite, which was quite worn and was intending to re-paint the trim black. The paint did not take well to the alloy, however, so I decided to polish it instead. It looks pretty nice just bare, I think!

We don't do "fancy" too much here in the FSU section - plain is fine and if it gets the results, what does it matter? It's all about having fun and taking good shots. The Industar 61 is a fine lens, by the way and the Zorki 4 is a perfectly capable body.

To be honest, I don't use the zorki a lot. I took some nice pictures with it using xp2 film, and the lens showed some vignetting which was very nice. Nowadays I use mostly my M6...

The Soviets needed to make a panoramic camera for two reasons:
#1. The country was so bloody big they couldn't fit the landscape onto a normal frame.
and ...
#2. All the better to watch your population with and ensure they were being good Soviet citizens.
:)
Thanks folks!

More in my Flickr stream (http://www.flickr.com/photos/varjagg/), tagged "horizont".
The camera is a beater, got it without finder or any accessories, and as you see one strap lug is missing. Still takes pictures though, and I did it a CLA last weekend. Gonna load it with last roll of Kodachrome 25 and shoot some mountain scenery around here in Bergen.
I expected the level to intrude into the frame on film, but was surprised when it didn't. need to do some more tests though.

Thanks Wolves3012, if it wasn't for your Zorki CLA sticky, it would probably still be sitting in the drawer!
I was concerned that as the slow shutter speeds weren't working it may have a knock on affect on the others - having "been in there" now I understand how it works & that this wouldn't have been the case, but it's nice having it all working :-)
I took a few test pics on the end of a roll & had them developed on Friday. The slow speeds seem fine for colour print film, I was surprised I managed to hold 1/8th second with my Russar 20 & it's not shaky :-) None worth putting on here though!
Thanks again,
Colin

Picked up for £7 on a car boot sale. The camera has never been used according to the old lady who sold it and i believe her. The camera looks like mint and the film advance lever works so smoothly. The case is not even creased from opening-closing.
The lens was gummed up, took it apart and re-lubed it. Now works like a charm...

Hey all first ever post :)
not boasting, but as you'll all appreciate the significance, I have just been given a job at Leica's store in Mayfair London, iv worked in a camera shop all my working life, and did an A-level some when, but I never got too familiar with RF, so with that fantastic opportunity ahead of me, I went to my local antique camera shop (Photographica in Aurndel, West Sussex, UK, if anyone hear knows it) and got this:
http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/8277/dsc01077q.th.jpg (http://img830.imageshack.us/i/dsc01077q.jpg/)
As I'm sure you are aware, its a Zorki M3 with the turret finder, a Jupiter-8 1:2/50 with a Hoya metal lens Hood, and yellow filter for good B+W measure :)
im still new to all this, but i'v got a roll back and i am amazed, (only had my meter with me for half the roll though :( )

My beauty just arrived few days ago. Any idea how to paint it black without sending to any specialist?
To paint that requires a lot of special skills.
Enough skill to take the camera apart- you need to remove all the top components to work on the top plate, the chrome trim on the body, and the base plate.
Then you will also have to know how to remove the chrome, by chemical, physical, or electroplate methods.
And finally, you will need to know the proper method for painting so that the painted surface will last and wear hard, as well as as knowledge in choosing the best paint to use.

I'll bet that was described as "good working condition" on the auction site?
I bought a Fed 1g described that way - the curtains were more like a seive, and the whole thing was gummed up solid with old whale oil. Complete strip down of body & lens resulted ina camera that's very nearly as smooth as my Leica II. I'm debating whether to keep it as my "car camera" or to sell it on - I have far too many cameras.

I'll bet that was described as "good working condition" on the auction site?
.
This FED was clearly listed as a "parts" or "repair" camera. However its being an early (with an oval "lavatory seat" style top cover) production specimen put its cost close to a working FED-1 of later vintage, with lens included.
The seller is known for his reliability and honesty- the pictures on the auction showed the camera as it is. I now believe that its wrecked condition was what appealed to me in the first place :)

I just got my Fed 2 today. It appears to be in really great shape. The shutter curtains look almost brand new and they fire at what seems like the correct speeds without any lag that I can tell. The rangefinder patch is probably as bright if not brighter than the one on my Yashica GSN and the viewfinder is pretty bright. The older I-61 is a bit stiff but is loosening up as I use it but it's not bad at all.

Beautiful FED-2! There are a couple of places on the Web that have lists of FED serial numbers. Unfortunately they don't seem to follow the general convention of FSU cameras where the first two digits indicate the year of production. Just looking at your camera, I suspect that it probably dates to the mid-1960s. I also suspect that the lens ("Panda" I-61) is newer than the camera by several years.
Edit:
I did a little research (HERE (http://www.sovietcams.com/index.php?1080963993)) and it looks like your camera was made in 1959 and is a FED-2 (Type-C3).

Two new additions to the fold...
Kiev 4A (series-1), ca. 1961 http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5249/5252374968_26e442844b_o.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/28796087@N02/5252374968/)

So far, both cameras appear to be winners, so I am happy. A small note regarding the lens on the FED-2. While it is labeled Industar-61, I suspect that it is really a "parts-bin" hybrid made from a mix of I-61 and I-26 parts. My thoughts are that the lens body, front plate, and rear optical block are I-61 (panda), while the aperture ring (silver and clickless), aperture assembly (10-bladed), and front optical element are from an I-26. Any thoughts on this are appreciated as I am in "conversation" with the eBay seller on this matter. BTW, optical performance of this particular lens is so-so...:( Steve

No, no 26m parts, this is the first type I61, the second type was the zebra, and the third is the black one.
This I61 lens from 1966 is the runnerup from the 26m, and therefore quite resembles in part.

The camera in the photo you referenced is mounted with the early I61 (Panda, which came before Zebra). Note that the color of the aperture ring is black on this lens, but silver on mine. It is possible that my lens is an unusual version, but I am still disappointed with it.

I've just caught the FSU rangefinder bug. In the background is a FED-2 (C2) with Industar-26M which I bought on ebay from Ukraine about 6 weeks ago, whilst in the foreground is a Zorki 4 with rigid Industar 50 that arrived this morning from Russia, again via ebay. I've just ordered a few meters of braided leather cord to make straps out of, because the spare black synthetic straps I have just don't go!

I hadn't been keeping up with this thread, but that is funny. I remember when the Crosleys came out. They never really caught on I think mostly due to their size. Everybody was starting to look at big cars.

Some nice cameras. I'll soon have cause to post a pic too - after missing out on brainwood's Fed 2 I took the plunge on a certain internet auction site and got one. I've just picked it up and it seems in good mechanical condition, but it stinks to high heaven of cigarettes, incense and residual mustiness (I would never criticise someone else's house but there was that aroma there when I collected it...), so I need to find a way to free it of this pungent stench before I can get close enough to photograph it. Even as an ex-smoker I'm truly beaten with this one! The vulcanite seems to have quite a bit of brown discoloration in places - any reccommendations about cleaning it would be gratefully received. Looking forward to trying the lens (I26M); it seems fine with just a little dust and a couple of light cleaning swirls. I also have a Zorki 4 on the way which I got solely for its Jupiter 8.

Sorry for language errors
Most of the later FSU cameras came with some kind of rubberized cloth covering, which works, I guess, but is monumentally ugly. I have redone a couple of these cameras with some nice leather bought at Tandy's. It is quite easy to do, and you end up with a camera that looks better than new.

catintheflat ~ good looking Kievs there. Maybe share more info later about your DIY J.12 VF, ay? Looks interesting.
polabe ~ very nice Zorki.4; and the meter looks right at home there. What kind of meter is it?
chomski ~ sounds like you've got a good group of RFs. Barnacks and Zorkis go together well for me. (But Kievs have always been that itch I haven't scratched ... yet.)
Welcome aboard, you guyz!
My two latest additions ... Zorki 4K and a FED-NKVD 1d from the summer of 1939 I really like the looks of the *trim-less* covers on those old FEDs & Zorkis. I have one, a Zorki.1, in a drawer awaiting a round pressure plate.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/chomski69/ I started to use rangefinders with several zork 4 and mir are good case but I've finally sold to buy one I fed a I also sold now adopted a very pleasant 6 zork, unwanted very compact with a 3 de1957 Jupiter and Jupiter 12 and also a KIEV 4, 1975 with a Jupiter 12 and 8 that 6 zork That IS the rangefinder leica iiic Currently in repair a complement of 1949 and a Summar and Elmar 9 cm I use 'em with as much to please each. Hope that the translation I Will not Be too mauvaise.peux t 'we explain to post a photograph on this site

David, am I correct in saying that lens is pre-war, and as a result, not useable on any standard Fed body?

Hi,
I've no idea and can only say that I've used it on the Leica CL (which had film in it a month or so ago). The problem is I'm recovering the use of my right hand after an operation and a lot of things I'd like to do are a bit beyond me at present. Luckily I can type as badly with my left hand...
It was working well when I took pictures at 1 metre range at f/4.5 and so on. There's a thread about it somewhere but here's a photo taken with it on the CL;
http://idrh.smugmug.com/Photography/Leica-IIs-FED-1s-and-Zorki-1s/i-p3SFGkJ/0/XL/Photo-32-Small-XL.jpg
FP4 Plus, btw, and scanned etc by Ilford but resized very much downwards by me.

This indeed is prewar and not standardized. I have one too and it is spot on with the FED-S body but miles off on any other body, not to mention Leica!
My kit also consists of a 100/6.3 and a 28/4.5, both uncoupled. I'm short one pre-war front and one rear cap, and ofcourse those finders for both lenses :bang: impossible to find!

The problem is that with any other camera we could easily take the back off and use a piece of frosted glass to check things. And thanks to the sprung back plate we can't even check the flange front to film distance on our cameras.
Multiply the number of lenses by the number of bodies and I get an impossible number of combinations to test. Doing 6 standard shots for each lens I'd be able to check 6 lenses per film but the thought frightens me. And life's too short.
As for standards and non standards, I seem to have been very lucky with mine. It's not much of a bother, I seldom shoot at f/2 (about 3% of last years shots) and so don't worry much because I can pick a modern camera for serious work.
Regards, David

This is my Kiev 4a. Has been dead for almost a year, finally bought some parts camera from Alex, add to that the Jupiter 12 :) the home made viewfinder I made long before I even order the lens ;)

My Zorki 4k from Fedka with NOS Jupiter and a new griptac cover...
Got the camera earlier this year, it came with a rigid I-22 that is OK but I tend to use this rigid I-50 more since it has a lens shade.
I may be sending it off to Oleg for a CLA but it is working well--so far:D--and no light leaks so I may not.

And, I realized that I hadn't posted anything in this thread for quite a while so I thought I needed to redress that.
Going to be out with it later today; got some Ektar loaded in it and am ready to go.

My zorki 3c with 15mm ltm heliar, it has become my instant favourite camera !
The only downside is the camera doesn't have take up spool which it didn't come with when i purchased the camera, but i temporarily fixed it with my own simple solution and it works like a charm !

Came as a pile of parts. The curtains had rotted so bad I couldn't stretch them for size, so it's not (yet) totally ideal. It works, though. I need to find a junker with fair-ish curtains to make templates that I can keep...

Pretty  cool, that Silver-and-Gold Edition!
I'd say it needs a chrome/brass collapsible lens and a red leather everready case too, though:D
Penny Lane

Hm, a red leather half-case would be doable... I'll be on the lookout for a red leather bag or something 'round the thrift shops...
Derk
Edit to add: that's now totally worth it. Been through the shutter again, it's now as good as I can get it. And whisper-quiet... Right. A fire-engine red half case is officialy the next plan!

my "new" 1952 Zorki 1, equiped with a 1947 Leitz Elmar 9cm (haters gonna hate ;) )
As I bought it, nothing worked. It was completely taken apart, cleaned, relubed, adjusted and equiped with new curtains made out of very thin japanese shutter cloth.
Works like a dream, very smooth and very quiet... never had a Leica in my hands, but I guess a Leica II can't operate much more smoother and quieter :)
There is mine :)
