Here is quote from the article:
Writing about the Nikon RF's has gotten me thinking, maybe February should be Nikon Rf month only for me!
As short as Feb. is I take it.

Dante is still active on Stephen's RF Email-based forum.
Brian: What is the RF email forum about?

Before there was an RFF there was the RFLIST.

You might first begin to think of obtaining a Nikkor 5.0cm/1.4 and then couple it to a CV R2S.
The real value is in the glass.
Mr. Kobayashi "saved" Nikkor RF glass from becoming paperweights.
Capre diem!
>>Mr. Kobayashi "saved" Nikkor RF glass from becoming paperweights. <<
Kobayashi certainly helped revive interest in Nikon RFs. However, Nikon itself did, too, by reissuing its two best RF cameras. Neither the Nikon reissues nor the R2S have sold especially well because the original Nikon cameras from 50 years ago keep working just fine.
Capre diem!
You mean Carpe Diem:D

Recently, a nice condition Nikon S2 with 5cm F1.4 lens went for $500 on Ebay.

Prices are down on most Nikon RF equipment, save for the mint- to mint cameras and rare accessories. I've never had to send a Nikon S, S2, SP, S3, or S4 in for repair. They just work. I have cleaned the helical on an S2 myself, was not hard.
I have a Bessa R2, and it gets a lot of use. If you really need TTL metering and want Nikon S-Mount, the R2S is a good way to go. If you are handy with a meter, the "classic Nikon's" have a great viewfinder and are highly reliable.

I just passed on bidding for a user S2 with 50/1.4 yesterday - it went for $350 or so! I'm going to hold out for a S3-2000.

$350! WOW!
S2's are very nice users, especially for the 50. The finder will give you an idea of how an S3 behaves, and at these prices you can resell it without losing a dime.
Look! It's a Paperweight!

Brian: Thanks for the info on RFList. As for buying a Nikon camera, I know that one day I will get one with a 50/1.4 lens. Your enthusiasm for Nikon cameras is addictive.

No, no, no! You can't give such a cruddy month to Nikon. Therefore, I say we put Feb. as Canon's month!:D Nikon deserves something like May.

I agree, February is a bit of a special month. Up north of Toronto the snow is beautiful, but I only brought my M6 (with an early rapidwinder) with me on vacation. Even left the F2AS/180 combo home (traveling light).
I agree, May feels more Nikon to me. While I will be back home on Sunday, feels like I missed some great shots up in the snowy cold north.

I've already had the S3 out in the snow.
February is a harsh month, weather-wise. Focus-wheel is easy to use with gloves. February is Not a problem for a Nikon.

well, february is gonna be nikon month for me!
though i may not actually be shooting in february.
i am in the process of getting a very nice user (recently cla'd) nikon s2 with 50/1.4 lens. it seems everyone has a nikkor 50/1.4 lens ;)
i'm also getting a nikon 35 finder in hopes of picking up the 35/2.5 someday.
furcafe has agreed to sell his gear to me and we are just working out the details and logistics.
i look forward to an outing with both the contax and the nikon...or maybe we need a contax month also?

August should be Contax Month. No need to worry about Hot August Sun burning holes in a Contax shutter.
You know Joe, once you get the Nikon you have to keep it forever.

Joe: How many camera systems will you be "supporting" ? I thought you were the front person for "less is better"?
