Have a boo at this 'Desert Storm Leica II', a.k.a. a Zorki 2C gone strange:

This is one for Remy LOL! ;)

What ever they are smoking or drinking up there, it must be good and can I have some? :D

I want it, so I can take it to the Center for Creative Photography at the University of Arizona in Tucson and just stand around with the thing hanging off my neck.
Can anybody say "Earl Schibe on acid"? :D
Rob
Ted, after you're done inspiring the photogs there let's take this to the next high end auction in NYC or,better yet, Vienna!
Someone needs to jump on that baby! They are RARE!! In fact, I've only ever seen ONE..... and that's THIS one. That "Leica" would be the envy of Salvadore Dali for sure. :D

This seller's other stuff doesn't seem too outrageous I wonder if he/she/they would take orders for specific combinations? I personally wouldn't have any nazi stuff but I could see some very fun colors ect. The other hitch--do we have Oleg tweak the camera before or after the "upgrade"?

Greyhoundman: Sterling suggestion. Even as I write this I'm saving for the camo Hummer. When I drive to market in my humble VW Passat and get behind a Hummer, I find its bumper is at eye level. This is disconcerting; however, I hear the Gubernator has eight. What a stud.
Now that's one 'class' Zorki. I have a Zorki-C that sure doesn't look at all like that.
I wouldn't put much faith in the "Leica" name, though. Wetzlar might object.
Now wait till somebody starts emptying the Hippie Zorki drawers with the Summicron flower macro special...
I had to check...still zero bids. If I had some extra camera $ AND I still had some of the habits I had as a much younger and dumber kid, I"d get this beastie! This is a good reminder to NOT surf ebay drunk! :)
It's like watching a train wreck: horrible but I can't take my eyes away.
Rob
Hmmm. Nice idea but I don't quite like the way it was executed. Perhaps I'm not into camo. :)
But the Hippy idea is sweet. Get a FED-2 painted with paisley patterns in all kinds of trippy colours. Get it pink-chromed (can chrome come in pink?). Get some beads for the strap and off you go! What was the saying in them days? Tune in, slosh down, freak out? Groovy, man!
The Xmatic thread got me thinking that candy pink or electric blue chrome (or combined with silver chrome, like them oldy chevvies) might look nice on a FED-2 as well. Mental note to self: must ask my friend if he can do some custom paint and chrome work....

RML if he says yes I just might be able to think of somebody else who'd be willing to pay him for some similar work....the name will come to me eventually...ME :D
Rob
hehe.. it looks like someone has gone to a lot of trouble and its not badly done either. But I never understand why they use a base camera that Leica never produced, the Zorki C/2C is just so ugly. A Zorki/FED 1 would be so much nicer ... err .. but then I might be tempted so maybe its for the best :p
Along similar lines check out the crazy Leica M4 on the cameraquest site
http://www.cameraquest.com/lm4ap.htm
Speaking of Camera Quest, not too long ago they claimed to have a Leica M-4 that had belonged to Gary Winogrand. I think they were asking $100,000 for it. It had been used so much that there were film marks on the pressure plate. Of course, at that price, there had better be SOMETHING unique.

I asked my friend. He still works for that motor cycle daler/ repair place but they don't do custom paint jobs. However, he does know a few places where they do. After I return from Mongolia I'll meet up with him and try to get some more information.
Now, I'll be needing some serious information on how to prepare my FED-2 for a blasting (to ge the chrome off) and a powder-coating-and-baking session. I vaguely remember there's a website detailing such preparations... Doh, stupid brain! :)

I don't know what they are smoking, but they must have an ample supply! RML, here may be just your camera since you don't like the camo. :D
I have too many custom jobs in my mind, all vying for attention. And ya know, I'm not a DIY guy at all, certainly not with cameras. Very frustrating! :) But maybe, if I can get my FED-2 custom painted, I can start do something with them ideas. I hope so. Could be a nice business on the side.

hello RML, is this the site you were thinking of?
http://www.geocities.com/fzorkis/
Oh man, nobody bid on this thing so it has been relisted! On sale! The BIN $ is now $202. That $4 discount from the orig. auction makes it EVEN more tempting:D If the seller will re-list it about 40 more times with the same discount every time, I am getting it!
Rob.
Dang :bang: Somebody BIN'd it! OH well, I'm not surprised. At 206$ it was just too much money but at 202$--what a deal!
OK the train wreck is over now I can get back to lusting after more serious gear!

Somebody paid over $200 for a Zorki that has been Puked all over??? I don't know what they were smoking, but I have some guesses to what they were eating when this camera got the raw-end of it!
Yes, Flounder, do you have something to Say? Out with it...
