Hi y'all,

Has anyone tried the 50mm Nokton f1.5 for the Nikon mount? I've got one in LTM, but wonder if it is the same formula and how it feels on the Nikon.

Best wishes for the new year,

Charlie

It must be the same formula in Nikon mount. I don't have one ... Don't think it was a huge seller, since the Nikkor 1.4 is such a superb lens, and most Nikon owners have one.

Thanks Vince--I suspect the Nokton is better than all classic Nikon 50s except the Olympic. But to get an Olympic is a pricey proposition. Anyone out there used the Nokton?

Best, and Happy New Year to all,

Charlie

I have also a CV Nokton 50/1.5 Asph. (LTM-version, not S-mount version), which I'm using with Leica M2 and Voigtländer Bessa T. Not much difference, when comparing it to my Nikkor-S.C 5cm/1.4, which I'm using with Bessa R2S.

Some wide open comparison shots (Nikkor vs. Nokton) here:

I have a Nokton in LTM and one in Contax mount as loaner lenses for my lens comparisons. I will soon post the results of my comparisons on these lenses.

Hi Raid,

I'm curious as Erwin Puts rates the Nokton as a smidge below Leica's best summulux, and that is pretty high praise.

Best,

Charlie

The S3-2000 1.4 (that Vince has) should murder the Olympic and still may be available new with a free body.

Noel and Charlie: I tested the Millenium 50/1.4 that came with the S3and not the Olympic.

Hi Noel,

Yes, but the Nokton costs a bit less! I'm tapped out after buying and SP.

Raid,
That's truly a heroic lens test!

Thank you, Vince. The experiment took 10-12 rolls of film, and about 22-24 lenses in Leica or Nikon mount. It was a nightmare keeping track how to focus each lens and also how to mount the different lenses. I am very happy that it is about over now.

I hope that photographers now can see a slice of what these lenses can do.
