Ok, I know. It's blasphemy but I'm asking anyway. The new Nokia N73 is tempting, with it's 3.2 MP sensor and Carl Zeiss lens. I have yet to see any results but these two features are interesting in itself.

But... weren't there any phone cams out (in Japan?) with many more mega pixels? Up to 15 MP even? Tell me if you know more. And if these phone cams are really available. :p

Scroll down on this link for a photo supposedly taken with the Nokia.

Don't know about grander MP phone-cams, but it's bound to come soon. I'm quite surprised how much I enjoy the 0mp camera on my phone. It's something enjoyable to fiddle with anytime I find myself waiting/killing time somewhere for this or that. Instead of standing around with my hands in my pockets while the wife dissects rack after rack of dresses, counter after counter of make-up, I'm quietily looming nearby  playing with my cell phone (http://www.gokphonephotography.blogspot.com/).

I've got a Nokia N90 which has a 3 megpixel camera in it. I use it for taking snapshots when I am out an about without a camera (Usually at work!) The quality is OK and would probably make an acceptable 6x4 enprint. It was particularly useful when some ar****le drove his RangeRover into the back of my car an sid it was my fault. The pictures I took with my camera phone persuaded the insurance companies otherwise!

I have one on my phone and it can be a lot of fun, although the quality is, well, dismal. It's kind of like shooting with a Holga.

I think in Eu and US N95 is already available. If some of you have it, post samples.
CVBLZ4's N73 samples are very nice

Mmmm, that Samsung 10 MP phone cam looks good. I'm just very very afraid of the price tag. :p

Itook a look at the sample pic from the N73. That does _not_ look nice. Just my opinion, of course, but jagged edges are something I can really live without.

I believe, that N95 output at 5 Mpixels will look the same on our computer screen like the output of M8. Ofcourse, after tweeking the Jpeg in PS.:)
Samsung's 10 Mpixels? Oyy,? Mamma Miya..

My daughters boyfriend has the N73 and the pix on screen look very good. Clear and sharp. Much better than my motorola L7 i-mode. Wish I'd gone for the N73 myself. Only thing was at the time it was more expensive and as I'm not on contract I have to buy my phone.
His pix even look good on my phone. Better than the ones that it takes itself. Look on flickr for N73 and there are lots shots to view, some very good.

A year ago I had Sony Ericson T610 ... I decided I didn't really need a phone with a camera and I didn't really need a phone on my point and shoot digicam either. I got rid of the Sony Ericson and got a bottom of the range Samsung mobile phone with no camera ... then I decided I didn't really need a mobile phone so I got rid of that! Now my Canon A620 and my Nikon D70s collect dust while I shoot ... and love film more and more! Next year I may convert back to steam power for transport ... or maybe a horse!

Come to think of it ... what am I doing tapping away on the keyboard of this damned thing....

:D :D :D

A neighbor of mine is very proud of his new phone with a 'Carlos Weiss' lens. It took me ages to work out he meant 'Carl Zeiss'.

There are some nice ones there! Thanks Ed! I had my Motorola SLVR for weeks before even looking at the camera. ("Who needs a camera on a phone? That's stupid!") Then one evening while watching some of the young people at my church goofing around with their phone.cams, I decided to get in on their "back 'n forth phone.cam face-offs". Later when I got home, I looked at some of the pics and realized, when held at approximately arm's length from any subject, (that seems to be THE distance) "...hey, this thing's got potential."

I don't guess there's any chance Nokia will open a plant in Krasnogorsk that produces screw.mount phones with focal plane shutters, eh? ;)

Just been setting up a new Motorola Razr and was startled to see my own face looking back at me from the little screen on the cover. Not a pleasant sight... I found there's a button on the side that turns the camera on and then can be pressed again to snap a pic. After I figured out how to turn it off (temporarily) and erase the pics, my next thought was to put a Leica red-dot sticker on to cover the lens...

Not fait play, Dougg. I have the same camphone 640x480 and it can be nice to you sometimes. See my little background shot.
