Well I broke down and took the M8 out and about- all the way to TARGET. In the first shot I neglected to set the focus to infinity and since I was shooting my 12mm CV lens wide open the backgrounds a little soft. In the following shot the lens is set to infinity.

Perhaps I'll fly to San Fran this weekend for some more interesting subject matter and light before the following weeks trip to Vegas- I really need to get a handle on this camera.

Ted: Are you sure that's not the R-D1 you were using? In the second one it appears the sensor has slipped and is severely tilted.

Trius,
I want to do a series on mass-market retail shoppers and the stores they love- this was more a proof of concept for both the M8 and that series. When I begin in earnest I'll have an opportunity to post pictures from both cameras but I'm already warming up to the M8- ergonomically it's not an R-D1s but then again no other digital camera is, or ever will be (ARF!)

Sorry to say and no offence, but I don’t find this shots very interesting

Well when I get the series going as I see it in my minds eye it will be tack sharp from foreground to background and will need to be viewed LARGE- think prints BIG ONES. When complete it will show the garish and huge scale in which many Americans prefer to shop.

These two I agree not that interesting however if the first were in focus and viewed on a 30 inch monitor it would hold interest for me.

Now if only someone would make a tack sharp 12mm lens

Sadly I ordered this from day one but it's still not the ergonomic genus that is the R-D1s :(

Makes me dizzy, that second photo. You've got roomier Target stores than us east coasters in the Boston area!

Hi Sailor, maybe asked before, but this lens seems to have a farely deep barrel when mounted on a M8...is there no danger it touching the shutter?
I would love to order one, but I am not too sure..
please let me know this actualy works on the M8.
Thanks
Reginald
