I woke up this morning rather late, put on some coffee, flipped the tube on and this movie, The Public Eye, was on. That's the movie where Joe Peschi plays a photographer in the 40's, shooting for tabloid newspapers & gets caught up in the middle of a mob war between two rival gangs. Kind of a take on WeeGee I guess. Anyway, I load up the Bessa L with some of that expired Hi-Def 400 film I got dirt cheap, screw on the 25/4 snapshot skopar, and mount the camera on my tripod planning to go up town after dusk to get some shots of Christmas lights. When I got there I got lights alright; Ambulance, firetrucks, rescue vehicles etc. all right on the square. Seems a pick up at a high rate of speed kareemed into a Ford Tbird sending metal & glass everywhere. I immediately set up the tripod. I was only 15 to 20 feet away from everything but out of the emergency crews' way. I shot almost a whole roll of film & the cool thing about it was NOBODY harrassed me. People were getting out of the way so I could get my shots. Even the emergency personel were cooperative, and here I am, just a guy with a camera at the right place at the right time. I know I should feel bad for the people that got hurt, especially on Christmas Eve but I gotta say, "Dang that was so much fun." :)

And the bad thing about it is that I want to do it again!

Get those developed fast, and send them to the paper if any turned out good, maybe they'll put them in.
