View Full Version : Film Vs Digital - Just for Fun
With all the debate going on at the moment I thought it might be fun to present a set of images for you to guess the origin - film or digital. Prize for the winner will be a large box of smugness ;) The first 5 images are with this post and the last 2 with the next. Cameras used are film SLR, Film RFs, MF RF, Digital RF and Digital SLR.
Please do not take this too seriously :bang:
I'll reveal all sometime later.

All are digital?
This could be film http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=35732&d=1162915739
On all of them highlights are very badly damaged, you don`t get 100% white on film, so you have altered film photos :D

They are all analog in origin!:D
Seriously, I only looked really quick (late for work!) but I think the middle two of the first batch and the dog in the second, are digital.

1-digital, because it's wine glasses
2-digital, because it's people having a meal
3-film because it's a record of boats stuck in mud
4-digital because its about homework
5-digital because its about a guy in a kilt.. who really wears kilts anyway right?
6-film because it's a dog and dog photography is serious and I like dogs
Please don't reveal because my mind's made up okay?
Film, film, digital, digital, digital, film, film.

If I'd thought analog instead of film I know I would have done better. I'm an analog guy.. shame on me. Thanks Mikael for setting me straight.
Off the top of my head, film, film, digi, film, digi, film, digi.

One sharp eyed customer has 6 out of the 7 correct
The 10 x 8 inkjet prints of these images don't reveal any more info - that is, the screen shots are very close to the prints. At larger sizes it might be more obvious.
If I were to produce the same image shot on film and digital with comparable equipment, then it would probably be easier to differentiate. However, I think this shows that it is not always obvious which is which.
Answers to be published later this evening. Anyone spot the M8 shot?

Hey! I scored 1 out of 7! Am I banned from digi vs. film threads? :)
Congrats, Jason!
6 out of 7. I whiffed on the dog. Does this mean I get a half-bucket of smug?

If it had been anything other than the dog I would have said yes, but she's hurt that you thought she was digital :D
