View Full Version : Poll- one lens
SO, you've got brand new M8 body, and , believe it or not, you've got the cash for one and only one lens.
What is it?

Easy enough for me - my collapsible Summicron & bank the coins...
;)
Well, alright, if it has to be a new lens then either the ZI 35/2 Biogon or the ZI 50/1.5 Sonnar.

Yeah the Noctilux....
but it bit more practical would be the 35mm summicron f2
or
CV ... 35mm Nokton f1.2 or ultron f1.7 ... any of those would suit the M8

biogon 25 or 35
I myself, after swearing I would not buy another reduced frame camera findmyslef trying to save up for a 35 asph lux, or at least the cron

The noctilux .. yes!
Versatility! The Tri-Elmar 28-35-50.
I'd get the new Elmarit 28mm f/2.8 because then I'd have three bodies (M8, MP, M6TTL) and three lenses (28mm, 35mm ASPH f/2, and 50mm f/2 DR). This is a bad exercise because now I'm thinking maybe an M8 would be nice to have...
Cheers!

Jupiter 8. There's no way I'd have enough money left over for anything else!

35/1.4 ASPH. It's the lens currently on my M8 and the one I anticipate will spend 2/3rds of the time on it.
24 f2.8 asph, at the moment.:)

ZM 25/2.8, easy.

I'm in the same boat Peter - M8 on the way - and only enough scratch for one lens (ok, 2 lenses - a ZM 21/2.8 is coming with the M8 - so make that one more lens).
I was leaning toward a 35mm 'cron or 'lux myself, but Jaapv and Daniel may be on to the most 'versatile' choice: a Tri-Elmar 28-35-50.

Noctilux and a set of ND filters to use it the way it was meant to be used even in daylight :)

35/1.4 'Lux ASPH...
35/1.4 'Lux ASPH...
Absolutely right! I love it even more on the M8!
I hope I find the time to take better pictures next WE including some quality demonstrations ;-)

It would have to be one of the standard Leica classics. The 35mm summicron or the 50mm summicron are both great lenses and (by Leica standards) relatively cheap. As my style of shooting favours wide angel I would probably opt for the 35mm. Or just perhaps a 28mm elmarit if i could fiind one at the right price.
Having said that I am exactly the opposite and have more lenses than I know what to do with ....God spare me from my obsession.
