Well, after driving back from Seattle, I had to go to Fed Ex and pick up the new toy. I am very excited now and offer many thanks to Tony at PopFlash.com for the quick service. In and out on the same day he received them :)

Anyway, it is now charging and the clock seems to have stalled since I am waiting for the 3 hours to go by :(

First thoughts that came to my mind as I held the unit. Its not an MP :) It definetly does not feel as solid as the MP. This could be because I was using the MP all last night and today. So the transition from 1 to the other is not a gradual one. When I put the 24 on the camera it started feeling like a Leica then :) good comfy feel in the hand with that traditional feel of a solid ingot made of some exotic metal.

Anyway, I will take some boring puctures tonight. Since daylight is gone I will need to wait for some better stuff tomorrow.

Ok, strange sounding shutter. Sounds like a snap follwed by a winding of a music box :)

To me it sounds a bit like a Polaroid SX70. :-)

Well... I was expecting your report earlier today, but some sudden eclosion of house chores didn't let me log in.

CONGRATULATIONS!!

I don't envy you the M8, let's be clear... I envy you the MP! :) Will you stick to film? I guess you will... after all, you also purchased the big Leica digital back.

In any event... my sincere congratulations on the new toy! ;D

Ah, that hurts! :) The sound does kind of give you the impression that a print will be sliding out of the front of the camera!

I know it's not the most desired comparison but I keep getting flashbacks to the SX70 every time I take a picture with the M8. And then I look at the LCD and say to myself "Oh. THere it is." :)
