Just curious as to whether anyone has tried their M8 with different types (in terms of write speed) SD cards. Do you notice (in RAW) any difference with the say 50-60X vs 120/133x vs "plain old" SD cards?

As I mentioned on an earlier thread, the Transcend "150x" is about 10-15% slower than the Lexar "133x". It's a clearly difference, but within the realm of the irrelevant with this camera. Iwould stay away from anything slower. A first-gen Sandisk (the blue ones) will keep you there are all day on one file.

I am stiocking with the Sandisk 2gb SD cards till I hear they have improved the speed of the 4gb cards. I got four 2gb cards which is more than I will ever need!

I was just curious because we have a couple of the plain-Jane Sandisk 1GB SD cards for my wife's Canon S80 she doesn't use (has a 256 that she never fills up). I was hoping if I got an M8 not to have to buy more cards to boot. Oh well.

BTW, B&H is selling the 2GB Lexar 133x PRO SD cards for $105 and Lexar has a $35 rebate if you buy two. That comes to $87.50 each. Is that a good deal?

It is, but you can get 4GB cards for around $100Cdn in Toronto, so I imagine you can do at least as well with the discount computer e-tailers or ebay.

The Ultra II 2gb 72.99

That card has been incredibly reliable for me

I have the Sandisk 2 gb Ultra II as well and find it to be very reliable. Meanwhile I have placed an order for the new SDHC 4GB card. Went out on a limb getting this because Leica is still not saying in documentation that M8 uses the SDHC. What the heck, ehhh? It's only money.

Going to resurrect this thread in order to ask if anyone has used their M8 with a SDHC card yet?

I have tried using the Sandisk 4gb SDHC card in my M8 (1.06 firmware) and the two do not play well together. If you try to format the card in the M8, the card writing light will blink forever -- only removing the battery will restore the camera to functional status. When the card is formatted on a PC and then placed in the camera, the camera reports it as "full" even when it contains no files. Obviously, the camera (at least with 1.06) is not SDHC compliant (or the Sandisk card doesn't meet the standard). In either case, they don't yet work together. I'm confident this will be fixed, but at this time I would advise against buying any 4gb card that isn't specifically on the Leica list.
