I wanted to take a moment and say thank you to Bertie ('Berci') for sending me 4 rolls of Fortepan 400 35mm film. What a great guy! You can be sure I'll be using that film and posting my results here online for all to see!

I love RFF - greatest bunch of folks ever!

Well, I finally got my first roll of Fortepan processed! I guess I underexposed and overdeveloped; but in any case, I ended up with grain for miles! I dunno, but I like it quite a bit. Not your average Delta 100, that's for sure!

I had a look at the photos of my former hometown (well... nearby at least).

I wonder if the grain would be less conspicuous in less overcast conditions? Or maybe more so but in a good way?

Also- glad to see that you were able to witness the very secretness of the secret police cars around Washington. There are so many different kinds. But yours was special, it had a sticker. :)

There were a couple of shots on the roll which did not appear unduly thin - seemed to be pretty well-exposed and developed. Loads of grain! Not a bad thing, reminded me of what Tri-X used to do when you'd take it to a rock concert and shoot at EI 800 and develop in straight D-76, ya know?

It was so weird, I'd almost gotten used to nearly grainless B&W. It was like 'hey, what's this stuff?'

I shall treat them a bit more gently! Looking forward to using one for some foggy-morning atmostpherics around here now that winter is over. Love the grain!

Hi Berci,

I'm curious..... do the Russians still have a retail store in London where they sell their optical equipment? I believe it was called "The Russia House" or something like that. I bought a Kiev-4A from them - new - back about 1986 for roughly $40. I still have it.

If they're still open, it should be a good place to purchase Russian optics.
