Not as much as a real macro lens on an SLR. I've seen folks quote ratios and numbers and such. It'a about 1:7. The minimum focus distance is 18" (give or take). 18" on my Canon 50mm macro lens says 1:7 on it's magnification scale.
It's a lot better than the usual 3' minimum of rangefinder cameras. Very useful. The DR Summicron is NOT a macro lens.
The first is the Nikkor 50mm 1.4 at or very close to minimum rangefinder focus distance, EDIT: about 3 feet.
The second photo is the 50mm DR Summicron at 18".
Same plants and same dragonfly.
I'm thinking you meant 3', not 3" ;)

Yup! Good catch! I corrected myself.
If I was wrong and you were right, I was going to buy one immediately!
The Nikkor 50 does focus to 18". However, without benefit of rangefinder coupling like the DR Summicron. 3"? That's bellows territory! :D
