Woo! I'm a Leica snob!!

I've yet to take a good photo on the thing having only received it yesterday, but I have a IIIc loaded with Agfa and a I-50 lens. It's so sweet! (bought from the wonderful ScotForthLad/Brian!)

Although my bank balance is running at zero for a week or two, I'm looking for a nice case. I spent £4 on a cheap second hand case today. See attached photo's. The plus sides can be seen from the photo's. It's a near-snug fit, the lens has a cutaway section so it COULD be used covertly, aaaaand it cost less than a pint an a portion of chips. :D

I'm after a case to the same specifications. A man-purse.

My preferences are:

-A square-shaped never-ready case the camera sits in with shoulder strap, unbutton the front and it folds down camera is usable. Similar to the case I have, but the flap is longways like a normal never-ready case.

OR

-A square-shaped case that opens like this luigi case - http://www.leicatime.com/BeltCaseBrownSdrwithIa.jpg - with a shoulder strap. Maybe a little slimmer? In fact, I'll have that camera too :D

Since the first option would need to be specially made, should I go for a luigi case like I linked to? Are there any other/original cases to the same spec??

My Zorki 2 fits in my Zorki 5 case, if you are wanting protection.

I have a 'Luigi type' square fabric case (your option #2) bought for well under €5. It's go its own strap and a belt loop too and my camera fits in it snuggly.

And a larger square fabric case for similar money with space for film, phone, pencil and stuff.

I'm sure that any leather-worker could replicate either one for not too much money if I wanted a leather one and showed them the original or a photo of what I needed.

I have cases for my fed/kiev/zorki so I know that there are those never-ready cases if needed, noel, but I'm more interested in a square/box case really.

To my knowledge there aren't any 'true' leather workers within a suitable distance for me to have one built over here. I'll have a look at the weekend just in case, but I'm pretty sure its luigi or else keep the cases I have.

I have a 'small' sized "Fomei Point" case, big enough for camera, lens and film. I bought it on holiday for a fiver, and I can fit the leica inside WITH the rollei case and still have room to spare.

I guess I love leather goods, and if I'm to carry the leica often then I want a good case!

Try eBay for 'Leica bag' and similar. They sometimes have leather vintage Leica shoulder bags large enough for two cameras with lenses.

I use a nylon lowpro style bag, two pockets.

IIIc, leicavit with Elmar cap & hood assembled.
5x cassettes or meter in other.

It looks like a digcam bag, but I normally conceal it in or under a jacket.

If you wander round with an expensive bag, do you look like a bouncer or are you martial arts expert?

I rarely ever use large camera bags, my sidebag is very thin. I want a very thin leather case for the camera to sling under my jacket for the camera.

I'm looking for one of those f5xb domke/tamron or similar. They were $39 or $49 once at adorama, but seem to be back at $59. Tri-State has them for $39 or so, but not so sure of them, never heard much about them.

I know what you mean. I am considering this, but think that it's still too large.

I have one that I use with my R-D1. It gets far more use than any other bag. It fits my R-D1 w/ a modified Nikon grip, a 35mm Nokton (mounted), 50mm Cron, 90mm Elmar, 4 batteries, light meter, pen, small notepad, lens cloth, camera strap, and sometimes a release cable. The only thing I do not like about it the zipper across the top. It makes it difficult to pull the camera in and out without it scraping on the teeth. I've been tempted to remove the zipper since it has a large velcro flap, but the teeth are plastic and I am not sure that the flap would suffice if it got jostled around in the back of the car. Great value though.
