Looks like images from any digital camera... nothing special unfortunatly...
You can see that on websized jpg's??:eek: :eek: wow!:p

Well, whatever the medium or camera I happen to find those pretty good photographs, if that is what you mean.

Very easy: donate 4125 Euro to your local friendly Leica dealer and within a few weeks....
Alternatively, if you are ever in the neighbourhood when I have mine, feel free to come and try it....

So I have no chance :D but some photographers getting from leica just for testing, how do they deserve it? maybe acting like grown ups and not surfing forums? :D

The images are fine in my book, I like the colors and the texture in B&W.
Agreed however that you can replicate the look with almost any digital camera at those sizes...

Well as a guy having a M8 on order i find these samples very disapointing.
At best i just ignore them .. there really is nothing at all to like about them.
Yes i am curious to ... but i can not understand somenody who says he likes what he sees. I can post better pictures from my ancient Nikon Coolpix 995!
I think the photos look great, that tent/dusk shot looks pretty clean noise wise, I know my canon 20D would look similar, but the colors wouldnt look that good. Also that first shot has some pretty nice color in it. If its that much of a leap over my 20D is questionable but its looking good anyway. And besides I have found that depending on looking at photos other people have shot with something rarely tells the whole story, personal use is the only way to figure out a good piece of kit.

I doubt I would cancel or place an order on the strength of web images, Han. Only yesterday I got some enlargements back that looked doubtful on the screen and absolutely fine in print, and one that was just the other way around. I guess the proof will be in the eating of this rather expensive pudding.... Now if I could lay my hands on some decent full DNG files and print them... That would be another story.

Jaap .. and only look at well taken pictures .. i do not like to evaluate lousy pictures for technical quality .... it says something about the capabilities of the person who took the pictures.
All i want to say .. best is to not even look and have trust;)

Without a DNG of a technically good image it's impossible to judge the quality.
Best of all, give me an M8 and I won't care about any posted image anymore :D

There's an entertaining thread somewhere on Phil Askey's site in which somebody compared a Nikon D200 to a $500 Canon P&S, and the Canon did slightly better. Of course, to get it to do slightly better, they had to shoot jpgs, didn't do any post-processing, etc. In other words, they had to pick the lowest common denominator between the two cameras. The comparison, of course, was ridiculed -- if you force two images to look alike, then, they'll look alike. That's the problem with most of the M8 shots we've seen. They're .jpgs, and/or they were taken illegally under mixed lights of uncertain subjects, or they were taken with early firmware by people out hiking through the mountains, and never do we know how good the photographers were, or how good or appropriate the post-processing. That's why it would have been nice for Leica to turn a late-version camera over to a serious professional for some serious shots in specified conditions. That's something close to what I'd expect Sean Reid to do in the next week or so, and I'm anxious to see the results. I do hope he'll post a RAW image or several images that we could download and post-process ourselves through our own software. I already subscribe to his site, but I'd be willing to pay a couple extra dollars for the privilege of a download...I followed much of the DMR discussion on the FM site with Guy Mansuco and others arguing the differences between the DMR and other cameras, and, without owning one myself, I became something of a believer. My own assessment is that the M8 shots will look very much like the DMR's. For insecure Cannonites, this does not mean better than a 5D or 1DsII -- just different. Your cameras are perfectly good.

It is only natural that jpg from P&S is better looking because it is optimized for it, jpg from D200 is optimased to be optimal, if you know what I mean :)
I don't quite understand what you mean, but I can deduce it, and you are right.:)
