View Full Version : Gallery Picks 7 Days Prior to 10/16/06
Post them if you got them! :)
:)
Probably not quite the full week because I was away, but I have:
Pherdinand - Heavy (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/data/4864/nito040_k.jpg) but beautifully balanced, and the real and the fake (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/data/4864/medium/nito073kr_k.jpg) attempting an unconventional manoevre.
Anaanda - Youth (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/data/500/Youth.JPG) and beauty.
Thafred - Donaukanal struktur (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/data/5456/medium/APX_Nokton_Donaukanal_Struktur_copy.jpg).
Edho - WTO no. 2 (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/data/6368/56.jpg).
Sputty - Beijing (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/data/500/000033_cc.jpg). Beautiful coloured homage to HCB?
RayPA - Fortress (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/data/500/v_crop0002_adj1a.jpg) - should be on the sleeve of a Jeff Mills record.
Haven't posted anything myself this week because although I've been busy with this (http://www.pbase.com/tom_77/deep) and that (http://www.pbase.com/tom_77/deep_colour) I can't post it here due to equipment choice...

Hi,
That's my first participation in this thread. Selecting photos has been a real nightmare as there are too many excellent pictures this week. I decided to choose only one photo for each selected photographer (damn it Vladimer!!). And I selected only new photos (Gabriel, I already knew the one with the guy, I love it though).
Alex Krasotkin, Mom's night gown (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46785&limit=last7) Pic of the week
BudGreen, Seth on Porch (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46545&limit=last7)
Nico, 7 (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46708&limit=last7)
Nachkebia, indd456 (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46826&limit=last7) Vladimer, too many great shots this week; save some pictures for the next week!!
Avotius, Raconteur (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46638&limit=recent)
Formal, Young Boy (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46592&limit=last1)
Santino, At the cafe (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46615&limit=recent)
Andrew Sowerby, 101106i (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46554&limit=last7)
Mango, St Patrick's Day (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46627&limit=last7) I like it Mango, I like the way she looks at you ... at us.
Todd.Hanz, Shrimper moorings (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46694&limit=last7)
Thank you guys for the great job!
Marc

Honestly I could not care less about how stardy my ZI is, plus to write about it? are you kidding me? :) harder part is to remmember everytime I compose image I need to compose it slightly left side because of paralax thingie, otherwise everything shifts on the right! is it normal?
Hi guys! Thanks for picking my pictures again this week, really appreciate that.;)

This was an amazing week in the gallery. I am sensory overstimulated to some extent. I think tht the street shooting is really great this week. Nachkebia wowed me with every one of his shots, some already mentioned here. Kbg's self shadow was another sweet addition to the gallery. Sputty had many great documentary shots, also noted above. Formal had some great shots young boy was already mentioned.
This shot also caught my attention, a very nice still by gregg: http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46856&limit=last14
You are all an inspiration. Keep clicking.
Being new, I wasn't sure if just anyone could pitch in here or not...but here goes, you can always delete the post if I'm out of line...
I've had more inspiration from the Gallery in the last few weeks than in years of reading expensive coffee table (sized) books. These ones really caught my eye and imagination - and it's the combination of both that I find so hard to come by in my own photography.
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46873&limit=last7
Birds of Steel - anaanda - simple and powerful - I'd frame it :)
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46773&limit=last7
Beijing - Sputty - excellent
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46708&limit=last7
7 - nico - a whole story here
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46695&limit=last7
Watching TV - Avotius - this is a great observation
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46616&limit=last7
TMAX3200 plus Steinheil 85mm/2 - raid - one of the best portraits I've ever seen
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46549&limit=last7
~ - sbug - quirky and interesting balance of expression, shadow and lightning - I really like it
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46545&limit=last7
Seth on Porch - BudGreen - just superb
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46517&limit=last7
Image32 - Nachkebia - the whole series has been fabulous but this is the one that stirred me the most artistically
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46525&limit=last7
Date - Pherdinand - so alive you can almost see the guy move - and wonder what his story is
:)
Thanks
David
Davd, welcome! These threads are open to all. Thanks for taking the time and posting your picks.
:)
Thanks to IML, Tom, RayPA and David H for including me in your picks. I have definitely improved my skills after seeing the work of all the great photographers here at RFF..!

Hi David, it was nice to read your observatio. Welcome.
Hi David,
welcome here and thanks for choosing "7", i enjoy you like it.
Hope to see some new shots from you in the gallery.

nico
P.S. thanks everybody for the inspiration I daily get from the gallery! :) n.
Thanks to everybody who has looked and commented on my Beijing series. That's all there's going to be, as I only had five days there to shoot, and I've posted most of the stuff that I like. It was a fun project, though, and I hope to do something similar again soon.
Nachkebia - your India stuff is fantastic - inspiring, to say the least. Travel photography is not easy - getting past tourist clichees. I find that I don't generally photograph well in a place that I'm not familiar with - Beijing was a challenge for this reason - and I imagine that you must have faced similar challenges in India. It's tough not to go for the easy shots, but you have challenged yourself consistently, and the viewer too. Well done.
Thank you David. I am honored, and I will go right now to kiss the "model".
