Just received the Nokton 40/1.4 today. I've seen pictures of this lens mounted to various cameras, but it's still surprisingly small! It's also hard to believe that it's an f/1.4 lens, but then I'm accustomed to AF SLR lenses as well as my Canon 50/1.2, which is massive by comparison...

Anyway, I haven't seen any shots of the Ikon with the Nokton mounted, so I thought you all would like one :)

I'm a big fan of my ZI & the 40 cron as well, just frame very tight on the 50 framelines and it works like a charm, I'll have to mount my 40 1.4 and groove with you!

The two and the brown case- very very nice.
I've been thnking about a fast, reasonably priced lens recently that I could use in low light situations.
Is it the single or multicoated version? and, How is performance wide open?

I have the MC version. The SC version was tempting as well, but this is the one that came along first...

I just got the lens last night, so I have yet to take a single frame with it. I'll have to let others comment on its performance... for now. :)

Cheers,
Jeremy

Is that the Voigtländer hood?

JeremyR

Yes, that is the LH-5 hood (the one designed for the 40).

I wasn't sure how I'd like a brown case with the black ZI, but I have to say it's grown on me!

Cheers,
Jeremy

Please, show us some more pictures of this combination. This first picture does not show how compact this lense is,- and how it would look on a camera body without the leather case.

I'll be happy to show a few more pictures of the camera/lens combo, as soon as I get a few minutes :D

Can you confirm that the 40/1.4 brings up the 50 framelines in the ZI. Thanks.

I use a chrome ZM with a MC Nokton 40mm/1.4 and without hood...kinda like using a SC with hood. The whole package is so compact that it can be slipped into a parka pocket. Using a screw-in lens cap adds a mere mm.

The 40mm/1.4 brings up the 50mm frame originally. However, under the kind advisement of TomA, I had filed down a bayonet claw to bring up the 35mm frame...took 10 minutes.

The 40mm lens coverage now matches the inner edge of the 35mm frame lines...positively confirmed using a Nikon screen (or a piece of matte film) place on the film plane (with shutter set at B and held open).

All that gives me a 100% framing accuracy in a RF...Nikon F2 style. This one camera/lens outfit is my travel package...using Tri-X rated at ISO 250 enabling f8 at most AE conditions. The ZM AE is almost always correct. :D
